From white2tea

(July 2022 tea club)

Chuan Zibai – 25g – Sichuan white tea made on commission from a naturally occurring slightly purple tea. What does commission mean exactly? It means white2tea paid this farmer far in advance and said “take that tea you usually use for late spring green and make a white tea specially for our very handsome tea club people”. The result is lovely. Bright, flowery aromatics that feel like a spring breeze. Blooming sunny sweetness and a glassy liquor that’s as clear as a gem. We used more or less all we had commissioned for the club, but if you are all loud enough, I’d be happy to make this an offer for the site in spring 2023.

Brewing instructions: Gongfu style, with roughly 6g per 100ml in your vessel and fast steeps. For the Sichuan white tea, use anywhere from 85C-100C depending on your preference for intensity, the higher the temp, the more intense. It can handle boiling water well in my experience.

Haven’t been on here in ages. Still steeping though!

Ugh this was good, sad it’s gone. Buttery, floral, summer grass, bit peppery. Smooth throughout, maybe a touch astringent after pushing steeps longer and hotter but surprisingly enduring, got a lot of cups out of this one.
