Castleton Tea Garden situated in the vicinity of Kurseong town has been producing some excellent Darjeeling Teas year after year specially “Castleton Moonlight”. Castleton Moonlight is made from pure AV2 clonal bushes and is one of the premium grade Darjeeling teas. Mr. D.B. Gurung the main man behind all the tea processings at Castleton sampled us this 2012 Second Flush Darjeeling tea along with other varieties, we liked this invoice. Castleton Moonlight is highly sought after by tea connoisseurs as well as tea merchants like us. Not to forget that it is produced in very limited quantities and proves rare as it is not available easily everywhere. We had to do a lot of bidding to get this tea. Hope you like it!
Castleton Moonlight Dry Leaves:
During the First Flush 2012 season, we had purchased this tea which sold out in less than a month. It was a marvelous tea, flowery and spicy. Now notice the change in the leaf appearance of the same tea due to the change in the tea season – First Flush Castleton Moonlight has an overall greenish appearance while Second Flush Moonlight is more of shades of brown. The variation of shades of brown is complex accompanied by numerous tippy buds covered in fine silver hairs. The leaves are well rolled and twisted having an overall elongated shapes. The tea leaves are rather volumnious and light weight. A 20 kg tea sack could hold only about 7 kgs of this tea. It has a marvelous sweet aroma which gets accompanied by a complex set of fruity notes. It is caramelic and nutty like the almonds.
Castleton Moonlight Infusion or Wet Leaves:
The wet leaves or infusion magically unfolds and showcases its true shape and size. It has rather chunky tips and the whole leaf opens like the pages of a book. It has a bright and lovely coppery infusion. It has a lovely sweetness and some mild malty aroma can be experienced. The fruity flavor cannot be avoided.
