From Thunderbolt Tea

A beautiful tea from the world famous Castleton Tea Garden. Castleton lies between Makaibari Tea Estates and Kurseong town, on the way to Pankhabari Road which leads to the hot plains of Siliguri town (about 80 kms away from Darjeeling). Many people get confused with Siliguri and Darjeeling – Siliguri is the hot plains where no tea grows, Darjeeling is totally a different town with different ethnicity and background. Castleton is renowned for its muscatel teas which gets produced during the Second Flush tea season. They produce good quality teas during the First and Autumn Flush as well – Mr. D.B. Gurung, the main man behind Castleton’s quality tea production was kind enough to send us numerous samples of his garden’s First Flush production. From among several, we chose “Moonlight”. Thanks to Mr. D. B. Gurung for sending us such lovely teas. Mr. Gurung is a real Tea Guru carved out through years of experience, hard work and sincerity.

Today, I bid adieu to the last of my 2011 Castleton Moonlight 2nd Flush. It was a good run. (sniffles) But how I part ways with it the only way I can in the summer…as a pint of iced tea. And to that end, it held up spectacularly. You were the best of the best of last year’s Darjeelings, dear Moonlight. Cue bagpipes!
