Made this one again because I was going through my tea cupboard(s) and was debating whether or not I should get rid of this one. I had only had it once before and to be honest, it was gross. So I thought I better try it again to see if I would keep it or not. I did end up sending half of this one out in the Canadian Travelling Tea Box, but that still leaves me with a lot. (Long story but I bought a 100g tin without trying it because I wanted it so bad based on the other Tea Fort Coconut teas I have tried).

I made sure to use a lower water temp and much shorter steep this time. It is actually not as horrible this time around. Still definitely more perfume/chemical tasting lychee flavour, but it is not terrible. I feel like I am getting much more coconut flavour and am getting a bit of cocoa flavour (even though that is not an ingredient). Will probably be able to finish this tea now that I found the right parameters.

Edit: You also have to drink it right away when it is hot, because it gets less desirable again when as it cools.

You reminded me I have three Tea Forte bags to sample, thank you. I think I’ll get right on that.

I agree, this one does get a little weird when it’s room temp. It’s pretty good iced, though! I could take it off your hands, hehe.

So, in midtown there’s a cute little shop called Eco Denizen that had a variety of Tea Forte’s offerings for .50 a bag. I nabbed one of each because I couldn’t help myself.

The dry tea smells wonderful. Like sweet, bright fruit and warm, realistic coconut. None of that weird vanilla coconut you smell in scented candles. It’s like a Bath and Body Works scent, only drinkable. Once steeped, it comes up to a darker tan color than I was expecting. The scent of the tea is mostly coconut now and very soothing. I’m surprised I’m not smelling much lychee anymore… its perfume usually hits you in the face above everything else!

After tasting it, I realized that this is something I’m going to want more of. The lychee flavor is very pleasant, but it doesn’t remind me of the real thing. It tastes more like some kind of generic “red fruit”, but I like it. You know how lychee can have a sort of strong, peppery, rose-like quality? Well, there’s none of that here. This stuff is smooth sailing, and the coconut is great. Very real. I can’t say much for the white tea base, since it’s mild and covered up by the fruit flavors. But anyway, I’m loving this tea. I’ll probably get more tomorrow.

Ok, Steepster really needs to stop bringing my posts back up to the top every time I want to fix my grammar! This post is over 2 weeks old!

I took some of this from the GCTTB
It’s fruity and a little coconut. Is it really lychee – I’m not sure, sort of – shrug. It’s ok – not bad, I’m happy with it. THEN I left it for a bit – and when I came back it had cooled quite a bit. EEEEwwwwwww now its fake, chemical, a bit bitter, with a touch of coconut.
Best advice I can give – DRINK IT HOT!!!!

This is not a tea for me. I have to admit that I have never tasted lychee in any way that I’m aware of, but I’m believing it is the super sweet note in the tea. There is a touch of coconut, but unfortunately it does taste a bit fake. Also, there is a bitter taste at the end of the sip that really threw me off.

Thanks, VariaTEA, for the chance to try this tea!

This was actually sent to me by JennyFur but when I realized it was not for me either I thought I would pass it on in hopes of sending it to someone who would enjoy it more. I guess I have yet to find that person. Perhaps you can pass it along again but with more success.

Veronica

I definitely will. I am not a big white tea drinker, so maybe someone who really likes white tea will enjoy this more. I did appreciate you sending it though. It’s always fun to try a new tea.

may i suggest (before entirely writing the cool fruit that looks like an eye ball, lol) trying butiki’s first? wars have been fought for less. just my opinion. =o)

Great Canadian Travelling Tea Box

1.5 tsp + sweetener

Given the less than favorable reviews, I was expecting this to be kind of gross, but I quite like it. Not to keep the bag or to run out and purchase a tin of my own, but it’s pleasant. The coconut has a really nice mouthfeel though I could do without the lychee part. I’m tempted to try some of the Tea Forte Coconut teas now. Pretty reasonably priced too!

I really like to Tea Forte coconut chai latte and coconut colada. I was not much a fan of the lychee coconut though. The lychee part was just too perfumey for me.

@Lala: I was actually just sifting through your reviews trying to find some of these. Thank you for making my job much easier!

Lala

I still have some of the coconut chai latte. Send me a PM if you would like to try some.

For a very brief moment I taste sweet lychee unfortunately that is immediately replaced by a bitter flavor from the white tea making for a not too pleasant cup. Thank you JennyFur for sharing but this is a miss for me

I understand that. I love the scent so much but the flavor is ‘meh’ to me too. I wish I could bottle that scent though. My goodness.

This is really very tasty. The flavors of lychee and coconut work very well together. It is sweet and creamy. A bit more astringency than I would normally expect from a white tea, but that’s OK. Slightly dry finish, with a musky aftertaste.

Enjoyable and relaxing.

This is a new one for Tea Forte and I like the idea of the flavor offerings as well as the skin teas or should I say teas for radiant skin!? Regardless – I like the aroma of this one. I also like that it’s paired with the white tea. It does ‘brew’ darker than I thought it would but that’s ok. I can taste both the lychee and the coconut. I know these are two flavors that people either love or hate. It’s a tad bitter but ok. I’m not sure if I care for the aftertaste it leaves but overall I am happy this is a new offering over at Tea Forte. I can forgive the aftertaste as long as the rest of my experience was ok and it was.

This was a free sample provided by Tea Forte!
I brewed this according to the instructions on the bag, which, took a leap of faith to be honest, because white tea and boiling water doesn’t seem like it would be for real.
Anyway, so I’ve never tasted lychee before but it kind of looked almost like a grape but with a harder covering that could be peeled off based on the picture. So I assumed it would be juicy and grape like in flavor.
It’s kind of what I get from the tea – I mean, there’s the white tea, and a hint of coconut, and something muscatel like. There’s also an astringent aftertaste on my tongue that I’m not a fan of, but as it cools that astringency backs off a bit.
Overall I like the flavor – I don’t know that it’s something I would drink regularly, but I’m enjoying it for right now.

I like your description of muscatel; it is the lychee I am assuming that makes it so; to me there is a hint of almond and I am equating that to lychee since it is not something I have ever eaten. Oops. Throughout the liquor was the coconut; that of milk since I don’t drink milk either I tend to notice and appreciate finding things of similar to quench the erase desire for wanting but not able to.

I tend to not make sense. Review is good; and the tea makes me think I am drinking green tea, but more mellow and sweet.

I want to like this one. The smell is inviting & very promising, but the flavor leaves me wondering.

I can smell the coconut, but I don’t get much of the flavor. It’s almost like an aftertaste & not really the flavor of the tea. I know it’s a white tea, but even still, it’s missing something.

I liked it better cold. But not enough to want to stock this.

I have a few extra teabags to share if anyone wants to try it.
US only to make it a quick send….thanks!
