Ginger Lemongrass

This is another I believe was sent by Michelle, thank you so much! I tried this one about two weeks ago when I was really sick and wanted to clear my icky-ness. I haven’t had any of Tea Forte’s single infusion pack things but they’re made for 12 oz’s which is the size I have so it was perfect measuring and steeping parameters!

Unfortunately, I had to dump this one. Tooooooo much ginger. Like, way too much and way too spicy and I couldn’t taste anything at all. I had a scratch in my throat and this elevated it 10 times over and it was not pleasant. Ew. I’m not a huge fan of ginger anyways, but I like it in small amounts but this was way to much. I know I shouldn’t judge Tea Forte based on this, but I’m sorry this was atrocious.

I really want to like this tea. I LOVE ginger! I love lemongrass! I should like this.

I got this in the single steeps packs. Generally, its okay, kinda zippy flavored. But it has a strange aftertaste. I don’t know…this is just not for me. Anyone know some GREAT lemongrass teas???

Sipdown #37

This tea is definitely all it claims to be. It’s naturally sweet and a tad spicy. I’ve been sick in bed all day and thought this might be gentle on my tummy. Well, I was right! This is an alluring citrusy herbal blend perfect for the evenings, and it’s really hitting the spot nicely.

Steep Information:
Amount: 1 teabag
Water: 6 ounces filtered, boiling
Steep Time: a little over 5 minutes
Served: Hot

Tasting Notes:
Dry Leaf Smell: ginger and lemon
Steeped Tea Smell: lemon
Flavor: lemongrass
Body: Medium
Aftertaste: slight ginger tang
Liquor: cloudy yellow-green

Meh, it tastes good enough to drink, and is a bit more of a peppy tea than most caffeine free blends. I don’t love it, I don’t hate it. I think it needs to be a tea complimenting something, lemon cookies perhaps, rather than the main attraction.

1.5 tbsp for 375 ml of water

As an herbal infusion, this is very plain-tasting to me. The licorice certainly does add a nice element of interest. I am not a fan of lemon-grass as a feature ingredient as I don’t like the aftertaste. I like the ginger in this one- adds a good level of spice that I can actually feel. The resulting brew has a bit of a brothy thickness to it. I can hardly taste any mint. A stronger mint flavour would definitely be invited- I think it would compliment the profile quite nicely.

Thank you Ellyn! I feel like I’m starting to come down with something. I’ve been waking up with a sore throat, stuffy nose, and I feel like something is pushing on my chest making me cough :[ So I was happy to see this in my sample box. I always find blends like this soothing to a cold.
ANYWAYS… this was a nice herbal cup. The ginger is spicy but I like how I can taste the lemongrass and licorice through it. I couldn’t really find the spearmint but that’s ok. I was satisfied with the other flavors going on. I liked it :]

Of all the single steeps I got with my Kati cup, I like this one best. That may not be saying much considering what I think of the other blends, but I do like this one. It smells more lemony than it tastes, but I like the hint of sweetness to the blend. The taste as it cools becomes more gingery and peppery, with an underlying grassiness. Overall I wish this one was a bit more lemony, and if anything it’s made this combo something I might look for now that I’m out of ginger tea.

The name is misleading… it should be renamed Licorice Ginger. I don’t find the tea as spicy as others have commented, though the taste of ginger is indeed pretty strong. The dominant note turns out to be sweet and herbal licorice – which I loathe. I really hate it when the sickly sweetness lingers in my mouth and throat. The whole cup is more like a herbal soup than tea to me… I don’t think the overwhelming flavours of licorice and ginger go well together, and can anyone tell me where lemongrass has gone???? Tea Forte, in my opinion, should really adjust the blend formula in order to achieve a better balance among all the flavours!

This one tastes mostly of licorice to me…. it tastes just like the free tea they used to give out in Aveda shops. There’s definitely a ginger note to it, but I’m not sure where the lemongrass is. Maybe whomever made my teabag liked licorice better. Man, I wish this tasted like ginger-lemongrass though.

I must admit, the cuteness of these little tea bags tends to make me forgive a lot of the faults of the actual tea. I want to love it- which means that the design is paying off for them. Not surprising- the company was created by a RISD grad.

Ginger and lemongrass. A winning combo in my book, but not with this particular blend. I agree with AmazonV, it needs lemon cookies or something to accompany it. Overall, not bad, but just not that good either.
