Tea number three from my September Sips by.

Wasn’t too excited to see this one in my box, it has hibiscus in it which sort of makes it another iteration of the “mulled wine” tisane. The ginger is very strong and spicy, which makes sense given it’s the first ingredient. I do taste a little bit of elderberry I guess, but mostly it’s ginger and hibiscus with subtle dark berry and cinnamon notes.

I feel like I’m always disappointed in elderberry teas, because I can never actually taste the elderberry clearly. Maybe I should be on the lookout for a plain elderberry tisane ha ha…

The dried elderberries I get from my local natural food haunt aren’t tart at all. More raisin-y than anything.

Dried elderberries ideally need to be simmered for 15-30 minutes to extract their flavor.
