Out of all our dessert teas, this might be our favorite. Real bits of coconut and hints of almond add a fresh, invigorating flavor to the perfect blend of a rich black and earthy honeybush tea. Add a splash of cream and/or a pinch of sugar and it might be even better than the real thing!

I put this off about as long as I could yesterday, but I really do want to keep up with these three advents, so I went ahead and steeped it in the evening. Just my luck, a double coconut day.

You know, for a coconut tea, this one really could have been worse. While the primary scent and taste are definitely coconut, it’s a blend I can best describe as smooth. I see why it would be a dessert tea, but it’s also not overwhelmingly sweet. I managed about half of this before I was completely over it.

The flavor is delicate and sweet – like a nice baked treat. The black base it present too, and it’s tasty. I can’t taste the coconut specifically, but I totally get that it’s like a cookie.

Plum Deluxe has a whole group of teas they call “dessert teas”, with tastes inspired by everyone’s favorite sweet treats. Coconut Macaron is one of these dessert teas.

This is blended with both black tea and red rooibos, alongside plenty of buttery coconut pieces. The rooibos helps cut the sharp mouthfeel of the black tea and make the blend more caramel-y in taste in texture.

There is nuttiness beyond the coconut shavings in the form of almond flavoring. The almond adds a decadence, a little amaretto, a little marzipan, that goes perfectly with the rooibos.

The black tea adds a much-needed robustness to the overall blend, and balancing the overly herbal red rooibos. Of course, there is plenty of deliciously creamy and buttery coconut in both scent and taste. All the elements in this tea play a crucial role in shaping the dessert tea experience.
