Tea #44 from Another Traveling Tea Box

Dry this smells really creamy, but not strongly of either chocolate or mint.

As always, for me, the best feature of a rooibos tea is being unable to taste the rooibos, and this one pulls that in spades. The spearmint masks it completely.

I didn’t get much in the way of chocolate, but every once in a while it would come through. It’s a sweeter chocolate flavor, and less dry cocoa power than a lot of them. It also doesn’t have any sort of chemical component.

It’s a pretty nice decaffeinated mint tea, but not something I’d order myself.

Thanks to Awkward Soul for hosting the giveaway on her blog, this is one of the teas I purchased with the $10 gift certificate I won.

The first sip of this tea surprised me, I was expecting it to be a peppermint tea, but it turns out it is spearmint. I’m not really fond of spearmint, but it actually is a really good combination with the chocolate and rooibos. It covers the flavors of the rooibos completely, I just get a hint of it every now and then, so if you don’t care for rooibos normally this might be a good tea to try. I can’t really taste the chocolate, so that was a little bit of a let down, but I did notice that the chocolate chips didn’t completely melt.

Not a bad tea, but not one that is to my tastes, it would have been a huge hit with me as a peppermint tea.

The black tea version is actually better.

Short Sorceress

does it use peppermint or spearmint?

Lariel of Lórien

It doesn’t say. Might be peppermint.

Tea #4 from Another Traveling Tea Box

This tea had a bit of a fruity smell, so I was worried that there may have been some cross contamination. Luckily, the fruitiness didn’t carry over into the taste. When hot, the flavors were all a bit muted. The mint was a bit too weak, but came out more when the tea cooled. The rooibos base was not as flavorful as I would have liked, but this was still a pretty solid cup of tea.
