From Moychay

“Big Red Robe” harvest of 2018 from “Meidong” tea farm (Wuyishan tea region, Fujian province).

In appearance: medium-sized, dark brown flagella of twisted tea leaves. The fragrance is deep, pastry. The liquor is transparent, with a dark amber shade.

The bouquet of ready-made tea is warm, spicy-and-pastry, with roasted and fruity notes. The aroma is deep and warm. The taste is soft, oily, slightly spicy, with a light minerality, fine fruit acidity and refreshing finish.

Brew tea with hot water (95°С) in a porcelain gaiwan or in a teapot of porous clay. The proportion is 6-7 g per 100 ml. The time of the first steeping is about 8-10 seconds. After that do short steeps (just for 2-3 second), increasing steeping time for each subsequent step, if necessary. You can repeat this method up to 5 times.

The effect is warming, moderately tonic, in low concentration – relaxing.

I’m pretty skeptical of this due to it’s price. I’m hoping what I got is at least wuyi adjacent. and for this review that is going to be my assumption. This is pretty generic for this kind of tea. Medium/light roast as is relative to my experience with these teas. Good buttery roast aroma. Kinda thin brew. The characteristic mineral sweetness.

Edit: The aroma of the wet leaves: Habanero. This is the only place I’ve ever experienced this smell away from the burning sensation.

Nothing exceptional. Solid daily drinker for when I want to step away from the funky stuff.
