Simply Strawberry

It has been a very cold morning, and while the morning is about over (six more minutes to go), the cold doesn’t show any signs of letting up. That’s OK, of course, because it makes the hot tea all the more appealing to me. But, I also like that this strawberry tea from Kally is taking me on an adventure of sorts, even if it is all in my head. This tastes so much like mid-spring when the first strawberries start to appear (well, at least, the first strawberries that are worth eating, anyway!)

It has such a fresh, sweet flavor with a lovely strawberry taste and a hint of pineapple. I love the way these two flavors meld together. It’s sweet, a little bit tart with a tartness that lingers into the aftertaste … but not too much that I find myself puckering. The green tea is sweet and creamy.

This smells INCREDIBLE!!!!! AMAZING Aroma!

When I opened this up and took a whiff of the tea I was pleasantly surprised. They smelled like the strawberry candies you can get at christmas time here, the ones with the hard candy shell and the sticky middle. I LOVE that smell.

When brewed, strawberry flavor settled down a bit. the tea still mainained that lovely strawberry candy smell, but it tasted like more like really good green tea with fresh strawberries. Hands down the best green tea I’ve had.

I’m not normally a fan of sencha, but I really enjoyed this. Strawberry seems to be a really hard flavor to reproduce well, most of the time it ends up tasting like candy. While this doesn’t taste exactly like a fresh strawberry it has a nice balance of the sweet and tart flavors I expect. The pineapple adds a little something extra and really rounded out my cup of tea.

I could see this making a wonderful summer tea for me, I enjoyed it a lot more than the strawberry sencha I ordered this past summer for ice tea. This will very likely be a reorder for me.
