Tea #36 from HHTTB2

While the flavor is good, this is the gentlest breakfast tea I’ve ever had. It’s smooth with very subtle malt and natural sweetness; it would not take milk well at all.

I think this is an afternoon breakfast tea. Like, an ‘Oops. I just slept until 11, so I’ll have this with a cheese sandwich’ kind of tea.

A surprisingly light, but quite good blend. Softer than many English breakfast teas, and just right without milk or sugar.

Strong, simple and smooth. Everything you need on a cold and sunny winter morning.

I can see how this tea could easily become too bitter and astringent as some others noted. I usually keep steep times for stronger black teas below 3 min and I am very careful not to use too much leaf. I’ve already experienced too many harsh cups of black tea going for 4min+ recommended times, so now Im afraid to ever steep that long :p

I used a 10oz mug and a rounded 1-cup teaspoon (the one from NM tea company that holds, I assume, about the same as Davids perfect tea spoon) and steeped for 2min45sec. The result is the “delicate” (for a breakfast tea) flavor that some others also noted in their log. I can detect hints of bitterness and astringency that could easily take over if I used different parameters.

Over all, its a fairly generic cup of black tea, but nothing unpleasant. I’d drink it again, but probably won’t buy again.

It’s a random sample morning with Harney & Sons’ Organic Breakfast next in line. I’ll leave out the suspense and cut right to the chase; this is really quite dreadful. Bitter! It’s extremely bitter. This tea is devoid of meaningful flavor. It’s somewhat astringent. It has an unpleasant maltiness that just clogs up the throat. I’m having a very tough time drinking this one. It’s harsh on steroids. But at least the harshness is organic, right? Ehh ok. Life is short, time to brew up something else.

It is very mellow smooth tea. So smooth and I can feel the texture in my mouth.
I did drink without milk. Maybe not strong enough to drink with milk for my taste.

No, sir, I didn’t like it! We like breakfast teas, so it made sense to try this. It was not good, no matter what we did.

Strongly agree with the Lainie Petersen’s tasting note below. Not that strong like the other breakfast (e.g. Harrods) but very delicate taste and aroma. So surprising. I don’t recommend to add any sugar or milk.
