From Asha Tea House

Slightly roasted. Medium oxidation.

A perfect representation of the San Lin Xi style Oolong.

Rich, nutty aroma. Slippery mouth feel, and a long lasting sweet aftertaste.

Wow, really what more can I say about this one? Well, I’ll try to say something!

I ordered this on a hunch I would like it just from reading the description. To me this is like oolong perfection in a cup. I’ve steeped it now for 3 times in the gaiwan and it’s a rich, golden tea. Mouthfeel is similar to a really nice gyokuro. Very buttery and rich! The slight roasting I believe brings out the nutty flavor. I am getting macadamia nuts and mangoes, a slight taste of corn.

Upon my initial steep I got a tiny trace of bitterness so I would recommend not oversteeping this one if you can possibly help it.

You can just tell this is a great quality oolong, totally off the charts in my opinion. I have hardly met a formosa oolong I did not like but this one ranks up there very high as one of my all time favorites. Very well done, Asha!

Did it taste like anything illegal??

TeaBrat

lol – nope, I think you might need the LiShan oolong sativa for that! http://ashateahouse.myshopify.com/collections/oolong/products/li-shan-oolong-sativa

Charles Thomas Draper

Oops sorry wrong one…

ScottTeaMan

Amy, did you get an oolong sampler? Asha’s Ali San & Li Shan oolongs seem highly priced, Most teas like this are though, and I think their prices are pretty competitively priced, based on what I’ve priced on the net. Oh boy! Now I’m tempted to add another company to my list, and I am trying to not place another tea order till Spring, but this is one I will try…….at some point! :))

TeaBrat

I got a sample size of the Ali Shan but not of this one. It was pricey but I loved it.

Charles Thomas Draper

Scott I recommend Asha….

TeaBrat

me too!

Charles Thomas Draper

His Oolongs are first class A1.

ScottTeaMan

Thank you. :))

BTVSGal

He is a little pricey now. I remember buying from him back in September when the Alishan was half the price it is now. I will say though he has to me the best oolong I have had. He gives generous samples when you make an order too.

Charles Thomas Draper

I may buy this today. I respect your taste.

Charles Thomas Draper

The fragrant aroma and the rich aroma is this the same tea?

TeaBrat

They are different. I have not had the fragrant aroma. I believe this is more heavily roasted…

Charles Thomas Draper

Thanks. They must be sold out….

TeaBrat

Already? sheesh. Maybe you should send them an email or something.

BTVSGal

I would do the tasting kit, if he gets more in. You get a good three tastings and you get to try all three.

It’s crazy how good this tea is! I don’t know how David finds these oolongs. I have been drinking a lot of black tea lately and have not had an oolong in a while. This is a great tea to get me back into drinking oolong. Really any of Asha house oolongs are. I can’t get enough of them! This is the last of the sample from sampler pack that I had.

Buttery cinnamon goodness:)

Azzrian

I can’t wait to get some of their tea. A little to expensive for me right now but sounds amazing!

Kittenna

Oh yes, they’re on my want-to-try list as well.

BTVSGal

Yes you really can’t go wrong with Asha house. My favorite oolongs is his Alishan. He is a little pricey but well worth in.

Drank this from the sampler, it’s mellow and buttery with a wonderful floral after taste. Very light with a touch of astringency.

It is a really nicde tea, however differs little from other San Lin Xi teas I have tried. I would prefer more individual character, but perhaps I am asking too much. Nutty and fruity. Certainly worth trying.
