TTB #10

I love AQTT and I love cheesecake, so I was super excited to try this blend! Unfortunately, this one fell flat for me. I didn’t get any caramel or cheesecake flavor…just a generic mixed berry black tea. I do like AQTT’s berry flavor, but wanted more from this tea based on the name.

From TTB 2019/2020.

Even with the lackluster tasting notes on this one, I really wanted to try it. Not just because of the description, but also because of the aroma of the blend straight from the bag. I can’t quite place it, but it reminds me of other blends I’ve tried from AQ2T. It’s very distinct. Maybe raspberry? The flavor, unfortunately, is lacking just as others have said. I did use two teaspoons of dry leaf so it’s not bland at all, but I don’t taste caramel or cheesecake. The berry flavor is there, just as it smells in the blend before steeping, so that’s nice. It’s just not living up to its name.

Probably my last caffeinated tea for the day. I’m buzzing.

My thoughts on this appear to be similar to VariaTEA and Roswell Strange (i.e. it’s a generic mixed berry flavour, without really any cheesecake or caramel) but for whatever reason I’m actually quite enjoying it. I’m cool with a mixed berry black/rooibos tea, and the flavouring is loads better than the tea I had yesterday. It’s also super smooth, which is great. I bought a second pouch of this on spec, and I don’t regret it.

Sipdown (229)

Like Roswell Strange I am pretty meh about this one. There is berry and maybe a sweetness that could be caramel but really caramel and cheesecake are MIA. Thank you Kittenna for the sample but this just wasn’t anything special.

Made a mug of this before venturing out of my apartment and braving the grocery store; don’t even get me started on all of that craziness…

This was probably the best version of this tea I’ve produced yet? I was pouring the water from my kettle for it and I didn’t end up having enough water to fill my mug fully, so I quickly refilled the kettle and reheated some water to top up my mug fully. Perhaps that weird prep method made a difference? Ultimately the aspect that came out so beautifully today was that the flavour was really sweet and rich, filled with jammy mixed wildberry notes. Mmm!
