drank Sugar and Spice by DAVIDsTEA

This is one of my all time favourite teas! There is not much to say other than it smells like spice cake and tastes like it smells. I want this in my cupboard for as long as possible so I am definitely glad I bought 250 g of it the other day

Good thing you snagged it! I was considering more but my store was out.

VariaTEA

Really?? All the stores around me (in Montreal) seemed to have a lot of the Sugar and Spice collectible cans left which I think was part of my inspiration for buying so much because I am worried it was unpopular and so it won’t come back next year

I bought this tea my first trip to David’s mostly because I accidentally dumped the sample they put out to smell all over their counter. However, I am actually quite glad I did buy this (not so glad about the mess I caused)because I enjoy having this tea around. It is so tart which makes it drastically different from all my other teas which are more sweet and/or spiced. Next I want to try this iced because I think it would be great cold. Plus, gotta love the rich pink color!

drank Jessie's Tea by DAVIDsTEA

I am having this one again since I boiled the water before I figured out what tea I intended on having and this was right by the kettle, staring at me, begging to be brewed. Last time I made this I fell in love with it and though this time it tastes a little different (probably because last time it was made in a teapot and this time in a timolino) I still really like it. This cup, the lavender is more pronounced both in smell and taste but I don’t mind that at all. I am glad to see that upon second tasting I am still a fan and my first reaction wasn’t just excitement over a new tea.

Your reviews make me want to try this! I put it on my Christmas list of teas though, so no buying any for myself.

VariaTEA

haha I am glad my reviews inspired you to want to try it. Now I hope that you like it as much as I do otherwise I will feel bad I hyped it up so much and you were disappointed

I’d really like to try this one.. I feel like I’d love it. But I smelled it in the store and it seemed really off putting. Though we seem to have similar tastes so maybe I’ll give it a go.

VariaTEA

I smelled it once before and told them to put it away because I also didn’t like the smell but when I asked the saleswoman and she so strongly recommended it I thought I should at least try and I am definitely glad I did.

drank Creme Caramel Rooibos by DAVIDsTEA

This tea is enjoyable enough. The rooibos flavor is present but not overpowering as there is definitely the flavor of caramel (though its a bit artificial). This is something that might be found in my cupboard every now and then but I don’t think I will be running to the store every time it runs out.

drank Cha Yen Thai by Teavana

This is a nice fruity black tea. You can definitely taste the coconut and the pineapple. It also smells great – very tropical. It’s a tea I would imagine having on a beach somewhere.

I tell you… On a beach somewhere I would not be drinking tea!

VariaTEA

drank Lime Gelato by DAVIDsTEA
6444 tasting notes

I had some of this tea the other day that I forgot about and didn’t want to drink close to bedtime so I got the helpful suggestion from Dexter3657 to put it in the fridge and try it cold. So here I am with my cold cup of lime gelato tea and although the delicious flavors are still very present, I just prefer them hot.

Iced

drank Read My Lips by DAVIDsTEA

The very first time I ever bought loose leaf tea was at David’s this past August. And when I went, I bought a lot. I picked this up because I saw how popular it was at both David’s and on tea forum websites such as this. Obviously I was really excited to try this one and even stupidly picked up a rainbow tin expecting to love it. Unfortunately, after now trying it for a second time, I can confirm that this tea is just not for me. I can’t quite put my finger on why I don’t like it, I just know I am really not a fan so into the swap box it goes I guess.

drank Spiced Fig by DAVIDsTEA

I was so excited to try this one because to me it smelled amazing. First thing I noticed was 50 g does not go very far at all because one cup used probably about 10 g. This wouldn’t have bothered me if it weren’t for the fact that despite using so much tea, there really was not much flavor at all in this cup. All in all, it tasted like sweetened water so I was quite disappointed.

I had the same experience, however I tasted it as a sampler from my last order. I thought maybe I needed to get more to really see… however this seems to be the consensus across the board. I had such hope for this…

drank Gingerbread by DAVIDsTEA
6444 tasting notes

I did not have high hopes about this one just because I tend to be picky about my rooibos teas but honestly I quite enjoyed this. It does have the rooibos flavor but it has a much fuller body that actually does bring to mind gingerbread. There is not as much spice as I would have thought but I still find this cup very pleasant. I don’t know how quickly I will be running to restock but I am glad I have some more in my tea stash.

drank Weight To Go! by Teavana

I bought this one because I thought it sounded like a good tea for someone who is dieting but I continue to drink it because it is actually just a delicious tea. Friends of mine who definitely don’t need to lose weight like drinking this berrylicious tea.

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
