drank Chaibos by Monsieur T

Well, it’s no mystery that rooibos goes well with chai spices. Pretty much every tea company did this kind of blend (I like Davidstea Coco Chai Rooibos). This is a tea sample that came with my order. It has a strong peppercorn aftertaste but it’s very good.

drank Chocolate Macaroon by DAVIDsTEA

Another successful chocolate tea from Davidstea (my other favourites are Read My Lips and Chocolate Chili Chai). It smells exactly like its name (when dry, the coconut is a bit hidden under the strong chocolate aroma). There is floating oil on top of the tea (that probably comes from the chocolate nibs) and added candi sugar. This kind of tea goes well with sugar but I prefer when the company lets us choose what kind of sugar we want to use and how much. Nonetheless, this will be part of my permanent collection.

This is definitely a good one. Glad you like it too!

drank Genmaicha by Monsieur T

My first genmaicha! I like it! Although I can’t compare it with other companies… But yeah, the roasted rice goes well with the bitterness of the ‘grassy’ green tea. This can easily be my everyday go-to green tea.

Flavors: Grass, Toast

Yes! Genmaicha is my forever staple/backup tea. Great for when you don’t know what to drink. It always hits the spot.

drank Winter in Løv by Løv Organic

Løv is more known for herbal tea and, actually, this is not so far from being a herbal tea as there is so little black tea in it (more or less half of it). It’s a sort of chai tea with almond aromas. Although cacao nibs is the first ingredient, I don’t really taste it. It’s a warm, spicy tea with a hint of liquorice that, just like its name suggests, is perfect for winter nights. It is so spicy though, I wouldn’t drink it every day.

Flavors: Almond, Anise, Cinnamon, Licorice

The tea that I brought with me on my trip to Italy, the tea that holds dear memories. This is the Dammann tea that I’m most looking forward to buy again. I was curious but sceptic when I decided to buy this because the flavouring is quite special… Vodka, prunes… But it smells delicious and it tastes delicious!

I enjoyed it but I had high expectations (since it’s the first tea on Steepster for Damman Frères ;) ) I feel like this is slightly more floral than cake-y.

Fjellrev

I was expecting more cakeyness too. :)

Didn’t particularly enjoyed this tea. Flavours too subtle, pu’erh base not interesting enough. Just taste like a regular pu’erh (at least to me [many people seems to enjoy it])

Yum yum yum. I’ve been trying for months to get the same taste I sampled in the store a year ago. Still trying.

drank Korean Sejak by DAVIDsTEA

Reminds me of Camellia Sinensis’ Tan Huong but a bit weaker. Not bad but won’t be buying more.

drank Snow Day by DAVIDsTEA

The sound of a white chocolate and mint herbal tea sound very interesting. I already love Read My Lips, which is a chocolate and mint black tea so I thought Snow day would be its caffeine-free version. First, the smell is awfully repelling, it’s like a very strong mint, the kind you would find in a cleaning product. The tea itself is not so bad: the mint is not as strong and we can taste more the chocolate. It’s nowhere as good as Read My Lips but it’s worth trying.

I’m a curious person, I always love to discover new things, new teas, new brands.

I’ve tried several things from David’s Tea as it is the most accessible tea store in Montréal and that there is no minimum amount when buying in bulk. I’ve also tried a few teas from Camellia Sinensis and Kusmi, but their minimum amount makes me try less things.

I would really like to try new brands, especially French brands such as Mariage Frères, Dammann Frères, le Palais des thés and Fauchon. There’s also a lovely tea store in Québec city called «Monsieur T» that I would like to try.
