drank Red Choc Mint by T2

My new favourite way of drinking Red Choc Mint is with some vanilla-flavoured soy milk, hot OR cold! Adds a lovely sweet kick to this delicious dessert tea.

drank Strawberry Bliss Chai by T2

I’m used to steeping my green teas around 80°C, so when T2 called for the Strawberry Bliss Chai (with a green base) to be steeped at 100°, I scratched my head a bit but I believed them. It worked out fine. Don’t steep for too long or it gets too bitey (damn cardamom) but after a short stint of steeping it’s a chilli sweet dream.

drank Pu-Erh Blue Lemon by T2
1024 tasting notes

OH YEAH, this is what I want a hearty tea to taste like! MMMMM. YUM. The dry scent is lovely, with the fruity sweetness of the lemon and blueberries, but then the pu’erh comes running through like a steamtrain. The wet scent is a bit off-putting, kind of almost like mud. VERY, VERY EARTHY. I was a bit scared off once I’d poured it, but thank gosh I went for it anyway. This is my kind of kick-in-the-guts tea.

drank Gen Mai Cha Sencha by T2

So essentially this is Sencha Sprinkles without the Sprinkles… still nice and toasty but missing the “oomph” that comes with the matcha in the Sprinkles. Happy to have some on hand, though – and maybe I’ll experiment with adding some matcha to it!

drank Bamboo by T2

Bamboo tastes like peas! PEA TEA! So weird. It’s really lovely and fresh. Steep forever and re-brew up to three times.

Ha! Haven’t seen this one before. Is it, like, ACTUALLY bamboo?! No ‘flavour’ in the ingredient list? I’ll have to find some.

Memily

Straight up bamboo leaves! All T2 stores should have stock of it :)

drank Girlie Grey by T2

My perfect afternoon tea choice. The “girlie” name scares the boys off, but this tea is more fruity than it is floral, and I am addicted. You can add sugar and milk if you must, but it’s perfectly fine as is.

drank Red Choc Mint by T2

Oh, for any mint fans this tea is a winner! Such a beautiful minty scent; this red tea is just fabulous. Steep for ages and it just gets better. So far I’ve tried it plain and with a dash of milk, but I’m also looking forward to seeing what a drop of maple syrup will do…

drank Lemongrass & Ginger by T2

Massive fan of lemongrass & ginger at all times, but TassieTeaGirl has it right in saying it sure helps when you have a cold! I love this tea anywhere any time, it’s lovely as is or sweetened with a spot of honey.

drank Sencha Quince by T2

The dry scent of this tea is so beautiful, and I’m happy to report that it’s retained in a lighter sense in the steeped tea. Beautiful sencha with a sweet kick. Also sensational as an iced tea. My new favourite of T2’s flavoured senchas.

drank T2 Matcha by T2
1024 tasting notes

Use only 1/4 teaspoon per cup for this bad boy. Took me back to the green tea ceremony we went to in primary school at first. I’ve tried both frothed (using the whisk) and stirred (the powder means you only need to dissolve it) but I think perhaps my favourite of all is a matcha milkshake – one part stirred matcha, one part almond milk, and a small drop of honey to sweeten. Ridiculously good.

65-50 — Fine. Unremarkable.
45-35 — this wasn’t the worst drink ever but I was disappointed; it didn’t live up to my expectations at all.
30-0 — I didn’t enjoy this tea and that makes me sad.

MY TEASTORY:

Grandad got me started young, white (a LOT of white) Irish breakfast with two.

I never strayed far from that until the world of T2 Tea came to Brisbane some years ago, and now I don’t know what I’d do without a pantry full of tea options.

These days I prefer to drink my teas straight without sweetener (though I appreciate some black variations shine better with milk and/or a dash of honey/sugar). I also love a speedy iced tea (hot brewed then poured over ice), and my latest obsession is cold brewing (which doesn’t make a lot of sense, as Australia is headed into winter and I live in the coldest corner of the country, but oh well).

I’d love to make a bunch of tea friends on here, especially those who can talk Aussie teas with me. I’ve recently come back from a jaunt to North America and it was a real hoot to hit up DAVIDsTEA after reading so many reviews! I wish I’d had the chance to get to more stores… but I’m happy with what I got back past customs. See those teas and my local jams in my reviews.

I LOVE:
+ black teas
+ white teas
+ oolongs
+ flavoured versions of all three of the above
+ herbal infusions and fruit tisanes

NOT A FAN:
+ most green teas
+ LICORICE ROOT (my sworn enemy) and aniseed flavours
