Oh man… this tea. I placed an order with Butiki after seeing this tea and its reviews on Steepster. I have been dying to try a pistachio tea ever since I missed out on the Pistachio Cream tea on DavidsTea. So I was eagerly awaiting my order’s arrival so I could try this one right away.

I made my first cup this morning and headed to work with it. Halfway to work I was seriously regretting not bringing the whole package with me… you mean I have to wait until I get home in 9 hours to have another cup?!?!

This tastes EXACTLY like my favorite Pistachio Macaron from the local bakery. It’s absolutely heavenly. I practically licked the cup when I finished it…

It smelled very much like that favorite pistachio macaron that I love so much… sweet and creamy like I walked into a bakery.

The first couple of sips I tasted mostly the base green tea, a little seaweedy, then the creaminess kicked in followed by the subtle warm nutty flavor. There is no innate sweetness in this tea, but it definitely gave me the bakery vibe. All of the flavors just meld together perfectly and none overpowers the others.

This is a tea I will go back to again and again! I know I’ll be putting in another order as soon as my current bag runs out!

Oh! Sounds lovely! I’ll add it to my wishlist. Do you sweeten your tea, or does it depend on the tea? I have been trying most of my tea both ways, sweetened and unsweetened, but I am finding I prefer most of them sweetened and I feel like maybe I am letting the gods of tea down with my need for rock sugar…haha.

haha, the way I look at it, the gods of tea probably approve of however you take your tea as long as you’re enjoying it!

I do not sweeten my tea as a general rule. I just have always liked unsweetened tea (being from the south, that makes most people gasp), but that’s just my personal preference. I definitely sweeten teas occasionally, and this is one I think I might try that way.

I keep meaning to try rock sugar in the teas I do like to sweeten, which one do you use?

I have tried rock sugar from a few different vendors, and I like Teavana’s the best. It sweetens but doesn’t overtake the flavor of the tea. Just gives it a boost in the right direction. Adagio’s was too weak and I ended up using double to get the same effect. And I have tried a few samples from local places with no luck. So as much as it pains me to recommend Teavana…there you go. Haha. I can send you a sample if you would like? The smallest size they sell is rather large if you end up not liking it.

I might have to take you up on that at some point. =)

The first time I tried loose leaf tea at home, I was hooked. I’ve been drinking tea for years now, though I still feel like such a newbie in the world of teas. There are so many things I’ve never tried from so many new to me companies!

I used to be very much a black tea drinker, but have started, in the last year, to realize that I prefer the lightness of greens and whites much more.

That said, I will basically try any tea once (probably twice, just in case)!

My review categories:
100-94: I never want to run out of these!
93-80: Restock please!
79-60: Definitely like, but not a must have
59-50: Not lovin’ it, but I’d drink it again
49 & below: nope, Nope, NOPE.
