127 Tasting Notes
First time tasting Tulsi, thanks for the Samples Just Organic Tea.
hmmm… not sure what to make of this one. I love the idea of the health benefits that it provides with repeated drinking for sure. I alternated between really liking and not really liking this with pretty much every sip. I can’t make up my mind whether I genuinely like it or feel like it is not for me.
Definitely very herbaceous. Strong basil notes and a little citrus and spice. Some sips were purely a mouthful of basilness, others were more complex and the basil mingled with the other notes. I think I’d have to try this a few more times to clear my confusion, haha.
Nice smooth black tea. It brewed up much lighter than I was expecting, but then again I did brew it at a lower temp (180) then the recommendation (195). I got a nice molasses flavor. Definitely a nice tea, though not my favorite flavors in black tea.
This was another sample I received from Just Organic Tea. Trying to get through tasting them all so I can decide which to request now that their kickstarter is finished.
Man, I slept like a rock last night. I guess intense 50 minute exercise classes when its been awhile since you’ve done anything more strenuous than biking or running/walking a few miles will do that. All of that meant I was surprisingly well rested this morning (and way less sore than last week).
I was craving black tea this morning and I didn’t have time to sit down and enjoy a cup, so I passed on Golden Orchid (which I want to be able to savor and enjoy), and went for my go to can’t go wrong favorite, this one.
Full bodied, full of delicious flavors, and it definitely satisfied my craving.
I go back and forth about whether I really like this one or just think it’s alright. Sometimes if feels a bit perfumey, especially in comparison to the Harney & Sons Dragon Pearl Jasmine.
Brought the rating down, because I don’t feel like this one is a must restock for me anymore.
Thanks for mentioning the Harney & Sons tea! My boyfriend loves Teavana’s Jasmine Silver Needle, but the price is a bit off putting. It’s great to know he can get twice the amount of the similar tea from Harney & Sons, – even better if it tastes superior!
Again, thanks! :)
I am quite enjoying this cup this morning. My second go at genmaicha and I like this one much better. Probably because it’s much much more subtle than the last. The toasty flavor is in the background behind the green tea, but its most certainly there. Adds to the warm comforting quality of this tea. The base green tea is very nice, smooth, and not at all bitter. This seems to be a good starting point for genmaicha. I wasn’t crazy about the in your face buttered popcorn flavor of the last one I tried. This is more what I was hoping for in a genmaicha, a subtle roasted flavor. This one is a winner for me.
3/4 tsp in 12oz water.
Preparation
I can see the bottom of the bag… this is displeasing. I will be so sad when this one becomes a sipdown. I’m making an effort to drink my other teas more often than this one just so I don’t finish it first and then have to wait to restock! I promised myself I wouldn’t reorder anymore teas until I sipdown a few. But I will definitely be sad to be without this one. I probably have 3 or 4 more cups left.
This is by far my favorite tea right now… anytime of day or night.
(1.5 tsp to 12oz of water… definitely wish the amount box would allow decimal points.)
Preparation
gahhhh… this tea. I got my package from Whispering Pines Tea Company today and this was the first I tried out of my order. The dry leaves smell absolutely heavenly. Like decadent chocolate. I wanted to eat them, but I bet they would not have tasted the way my mind thought they would. haha.
The steeped liquid smells much more subtly of chocolate, and the chocolate flavor is also deliciously subtle. This tea was love at first sip. I will be savoring this and adding it to my must always have or I will cry list.
Preparation
Man… I am seriously nearing the end of this tin. This will be a very sad sipdown, as it is the best jasmine green tea I have found. Very subtle jasmine compared to everything else I’ve had. It’s usually my go to tea for lazy Saturday or Sunday mornings.
Preparation
Thank you Nina’s Paris for offering up a few samples on the discussion board.
I had marked this on my wishlist after reading VariaTEA’s review. I was very curious about this one.
This smells like popcorn to me. I don’t know what I expected it to smell like, but definitely I did not expect popcorn! And it reminds me of carmel corn. The taste at the front is a nice sweetness from the carmel, and then it starts to taste buttery, and the finish and aftertaste and the same as if I just ate popcorn.
It’s tasty and different from anything I own, but probably not something I would stock in my cupboard. Grateful that I got to try it though!
Tulsi is not for me…never heard it had good health benefits,
But I will continue Matcha for the health benefits…
Oh gosh, I can so relate to alternating how I feel from sip to sip. So odd.
