drank Almond Matcha by Matcha Outlet

This is my very first time making matcha. I couldn’t pass up the deal Red Leaf had on Black Friday. Sure, I don’t have all the fancy tools for proper matcha. I made do with a mug, strainer & little wire whisk. It turned out excellent!

When I first opened the gold pouch a really strong smell of almond hit me. At this point I was glad I started with the basic. I was afraid this was going to be super overpowering. It wasn’t an overpowering almond taste at all. It was pretty subtle. I could really taste the vegetal notes of this, which is ok by me. I’m so glad I ordered this!

This tea is so pretty. It’s got rose petals in it. It smells divine. After smelling it in my local tea shop I knew I had to purchase it. It’s both sweet and tart. I’m really into this.

This is really super tasty tea. It’s got bits of popcorn in it. I’m pretty new to this type of tea. I guess I wasn’t expecting popcorn being an ingredient. I’m really enjoying this. It’s got a real toasty/roasty quality to it. Really enjoying this!

I got this as a sample from David’s Tea. This probably sounds bad, but this tastes like cooked cabbage to me. I really love this. I’m fond if vegetal like teas and this is no exception. I will certainly be ordering this!

Cantaloupe is my favorite fruit. So I had huge expectations for this tea. Let me just say, it did nit disappoint. The dry tea smelled exactly like cantaloupe. I was hoping this would taste strongly if melon & not just a hint of it. This is delicious. It’s got a terrific flavor. The creaminess is amazing. This will be forever in my permanent stash. Stacy, this is perfection!

I took a gamble when I ordered this tea. I like maple syrup. I despise maple flavored cookies, candy, ice cream, etc. I was surprised how much I liked this. It actually tastes like maple syrup, & not artificial at all. The thing that impressed me the most is the lingering maple flavor. Very good!

This is hands down my favorite oolong that I’ve tried from Butiki so far. My only regret is that it’s a sample. Will definitely be ordering this. I can definitely smell the orchid right away as it steeps. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this as I’m not a huge fan of floral teas. But the orchid is a lovely scent & isn’t over powering. I literally can’t stop sniffing this tea as it steeps! It’s got such a great creaminess to it. Really enjoying this one!

This tea smells delightful. While it steeped it smelled like freshly baked cookies. The flavor is good. It’s not as robust as I had imagined it to be from smelling the dry leaves. This is a great afternoon tea. It’s sweet, but not overpoweringly so. If the flavor was just a little bit stronger, this would be a home run to me.

I’m having a blast trying the different oolongs that I ordered from Butiki. This is good stuff. It’s complex. Lots of flavors going on here. I definitely get the burnt toast flavor, which I love. I also taste a nutty flavor. Really good stuff!

I’ve never tried an aged oolong before. When I first opened the bag I was surprised at how dark the leaves are. They’re almost black. It had an unidentifiable smell. It didn’t smell particularly good or bad. I’m very sorry to say that I didnt enjoy this tea. I just didn’t care for the taste. I mean no disrespect to Butiki Teas. Maybe I don’t like aged oolongs? I think I’ll see if somebody that would appreciate this tea would be interested in a swap.

I would still consider myself somewhat of a beginner with tea. I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can from this resourceful site.

I really enjoy oolongs, especially milk oolongs. I do enjoy flavored blacks, but I feel like I’m ready to venture more into the pure tea territory. I’m clueless as to where to start with pu’s and shu’s, but am eager to learn.
