Thank you TeaEqualsBliss for this sample!
The packaging immediately caught my eye and I was wondering what in the world Zoombweebies was, so I looked it up to find that they also make 52teas who I keep seeing on steepster and have yet to try, so I’m happy to have a better idea now of their teas.

This tea smells pretty good and I can really smell the chocolate and strawberries.
Sweetened with german rock sugar. It’s really a step up from the usual black tea I drink. Interestingly I having a pleasant silky mouth feeling.. maybe that’s the chocolate oils?

I was actually wanting a chocolate tea and I’m quite satisfied now. I even brewed it twice and it was still nice. Enjoyed this tea during my forest studies. :)

this sounds yummy!

Thanks for this one Alphakitty!!!!!

I love green tea – generally speaking – but I have had some issues and him-haw reactions to various Young/Hyson’s in my past.

This one is pretty good! I’m pleasantly surprised! It’s not overly grassy – it’s even a little sweet in a fresh green beans meets green herbs sort of way.

Not too shabby at all!

Hey hey hey I got a sample of this from TeaEqualsBliss and its pretty darn good!
I was not anticipating much mostly because the smell was bland but this brewed into a nice tea!
I would not even mention the smokiness because honestly I don’t think anyone who didn’t know what smoky tea tasted like would identify it as smokey. I know that word tends to put some people off so I would leave it out.
Now with that said – it has a slightly smoky flavor in the background LOL.
Its mostly rich, fruity, creamy, thicker and heavier than most tea in mouthful and sweet.
I have to say the sweetness and fruitiness hit me first and foremost. I could not add any sweetener to this as I feel it would be too sweet for me if I did.
This is a lovely tea and I am so happy I had a chance to try something that I guess is not around anymore!
Thank you SO MUCH TeaEqualsBliss for passing this on my way!

Another generous sample from TeaEqualsBliss
Leaves smell of a bright almost spicy lime.
The color is a nice dark red liquid.
The wet leaves smell a little like a cleaning solution, but the tea itself smells like a good black tea, a little smoke, a little spice and then a nice lime.
Surprisingly, the first thing I taste is the black tea not the lime.
The lime is there in the background, not overpowering.
A nice tea, a fun experience and because of the generous sample I was given I will be able to try it iced.

I got this in my fire sale box from Rachel (iHeartTeas). I realized yesterday that there are two Rachels, so perhaps I should specify which one from now on. I’ve never tried and Zoomdweebies teas, and to the best of my knowledge they’re what turned into 52teas (correct me if I’m wrong!)! This smelled soooooo good in the bag. I love lemon, I love spice, what could go wrong? Well apparently nothing, because this is a great tea. It’s not heavily lemony, but it’s still nice and bright. The spices (cinnamon only according to the packaging, but I am definitely getting some clove, maybe even orange peel) are wonderfully warming, not overpowering the lemon but accenting it. If you could make mulled lemonade, I think it would taste a lot like this. It’s also great hot and cold (tea cools down pretty fast with the AC blasting), which is always a big bonus. This is a more wintery tea I think, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to save it until then!

I got this tea from Teaequalsbliss! I am getting to all of my samples recently and this one was first to get picked. It smells pretty good.
This tea has lots of really great lime notes. I’m starting to suspect that cheesecake is a really hard flavor to pull off. This reminds me of a tea I used to drink at work instead of soda, but I can’t remember what it was called.
Overall this tea is tasty and would probably go really well with the cinnamon kusmi I have a whole load of!

This sample came to me by way of LiberTeas and her big box of samples on Teatra.de. Since I am cleaning house (well, trying!) in terms of samples I opted to use this guy for a pot for the beau and I after work. I’m not getting much aroma from the loose leaves, but I’m assuming this tea is getting older, since most reviews of it are from a year ago or more. I will admit up front that I am very uncertain about banana flavour in tea – Most banana teas involve chamomile which is the bane of my existance, so the opportunity to try banana cheesecake is too good to pass up.

Knowing that Frank’s black tea base and I don’t always get along very well, I let the water cool to 95C and only steeped for 3 minutes. These precautions yield a brick red liquor with very little aroma, though there is a tinge of bitterness underneath (almost coffee-ish). There’s not much by way of banana or cheesecake in the aroma but there is a vague sweetness on top of it all. If I could just get the “top” lawyer of the aroma, this would be a very appetizing smell.

First sips are pretty nice. No bitterness, but also no banana. I’ll chalk that up to the age of the tea and the fact that it was in a little plastic bag next to lots of other teas for a while. The general flavour is sweet and lovely, reminiscent of 52Teas’ Blueberry Cream Cheese Danish. I’m not really getting cheesecake here, but there is definite sweetness. Very nice to have tried!

Shared with a co-worker. He loves this. He said it is the first tea I have shared with him that he would actually buy. So I went looking and discovered Zoom Dweebies Tea Bar has apparently become 52Teas and Man Teas. You all probably knew that. I am so last year. Haven’t checked yet to see if this is still available through 52teas.

Thank you TeaEqualsBliss for this sample.

A black tea with lemon peal with natural and/or artificial flavor(s). No brewing instructions so I used my standard for black tea – 1 tsp, 3 minutes, and boiling water. CTC leaf with pieces of lemon peal. The liquor appears clear enough and dark but not too dark. Yeah, I am a bit blurry eyed this morning and that’s the best I can do. The sip is not what I was expecting. I thought this was going to be a brisk in your face wake up you sleepy head tea with a slap of citrus. Not at all. This is a medium bodied, smooth black, with just a hint of lemon and only enough bite and malt to be interesting. Kind of like Prince of Wales with the touch of lemon. A pleasant start to my day.

Wait a minute ladies and gentlemen, I think something is happening. I kept smelling spices this morning. I thought it was my imagination after reading ashmanra’s Constant Comment review before coming to work. Then I thought maybe it was the Hot and Spicy Cinnamon calling out from the drawer (drink me, drink me). I ate a couple sesame sticks a moment ago and then grabbed my cup. I don’t see it on the label but I am getting spices now that the cup is cooling. If it is my imagination, I hope I don’t wake up until I finish the cup (I type these as I sip and post in the evening).

Cup 2. It is not my imagination! As this stuff cools it tastes like Lady Grey minus the floral bergamot flavor. What a fun cup. I am sharing this with a co-worker who drinks Twinings. I know he will absolutely love this.

I apparently liked this a whole lot better than the SorieTea Sisters.

Having this one today in the french press. Yum. Yum. Yum. I do love good mint tea. The last time I had this it reminded me of another tea. Today in the grocery I nailed it. Bigelow’s Plantation mint….except take the flavor and quality up quite a bit. We had this tea in the house a lot growing up. I started drinking tea with my mom probably since I was a freshman in high school or before. Usually it was mint tea with milk and sugar. Of course now I drink my tea straight most of the time. So I have graduated a bit. Man is this good. I’m thinking if Frank did this one again….I am on it.

Thank you to oOTeaOo for this one. I have to be honest and say I haven’t had to many teas that have spearmint in them. Peppermint….for sure. This is quite good. There are lot of bagged mint blends that have the mints intertwined, but I like the spearmint standing alone here. For some reason “the cheese stands alone” starts playing in my head. I found that the spearmint seems to be a little more creamy than peppermint. It blends well with this black tea.

Mastress Alita’s sipdown challenge – June Theme: A June Wedding Tea #3

additional notes: Fits for OLD and BLUE. Sipped this down with a fantastic bowl of maple blueberry oatmeal which I thought was perfect. The flavors in the oatmeal made up for the lack in the tea. But you lived a long time, tea, a long long time… the perfect sendoff anyway!

Mastress Alita’s sipdown challenge Wednesday, May 26th: National Blueberry Cheesecake Day Tea #2

Going with the oldest and newest blueberry teas again today.  This is most certainly the oldest.  Next time sipdown.  The flavors held out so long, but not so much now.  But tea isn’t immortal and this one made it past its prime.   Tinge of syrupy maple left!  It was an honor to try this tea, so early in 52Teas days that it was still called Zoomdweebies!

Additional notes: ..two years later. Yikes. This has to be one of my oldest teas. BUT I steeped this for about 66 seconds after waiting a few minutes after boiling and it was a teaspoon and a half. WAY more maple flavor. I was oversteeping this one. Even way back then, 52Teas taste better with shorter steep times. I definitely didn’t have this much maple flavor the last time I had it (maple was what I wanted)… but still no blueberry flavor. But it’s nice to know that my old teas still hold some flavor!

ETA: I just checked the date and it was 9/7/11 last time… one day from being exactly two years ago!

There is a mild scent of maple to this tea. But anything blueberry is non-existant. I may have ‘burned’ any of the blueberry flavor out though, since I usually wait a bit before steeping after boiling. This time I didn’t. I do love a decent black tea though.. so if you’re just going for that, it’s pretty good. Disappointed there isn’t more maple or blueberry flavor here though…

Keeping the peach theme going…yet another fix from QuiltGuppy, generous she is. The peach is there, but understated. The cream is faint. I am picking up a trace of smoke in the black tea base. I like smoke, but was caught off guard to find it here. I tasted three distinct times and it is there. Odd but good. Reading the peaches & cream label, I expected bold flavors. This is ok, nothing wrong with it, just not what I expected.

Thanks to Batrachoid for this one! This is lovely – the black tea base is good and strong and the lime, although subtle, adds a very nice note. I did expect this to be more tart, but the lime is sweeter than I expected and not at all tart. A good tea overall!

I tried this tea this morning, and I can’t really describe it. I’m not a fan of grapefruit in general. This tea wasn’t so bad, but it wasn’t my favorite either.
