I’m celebrating Cinco de Mayo a little early so that I can review this tea and publish it tomorrow for the holiday.
This has an interesting aroma. I can smell the orange, the cinnamon, the chili and the rooibos… and together they create a very intriguing scent. The rooibos is less obvious in the flavor than it is in the scent, and that’s just the way I like my rooibos. The woody/nutty taste is there, but it isn’t very strong. The cinnamon and orange are much stronger. The coconut is barely there, but, I like the way it peeks its way through.
The chili is subtle at the start, and it slowly develops, and eventually builds to a point where it sort of kicks you at the finish. The more I sip on this, the more I’m liking it.
I received a package of this tea from a tea friend. This is pleasantly chocolate-y with a lovely hazelnut note. It’s reminds me very much of nutella, only in tea form. The black tea is brisk but not particularly bold and doesn’t attempt to overpower the chocolate and hazelnut. Nevertheless it is quite flavorful and melds well with the flavors.
The hazelnut is sweet and nutty and the chocolate is a dark chocolate flavor – I suppose if I wanted milk chocolate I could easily add some milk to this but I’m finding it quite delightful neat. A very enjoyable tea.
I finished this tea up today as well. Woo I’m on a roll. I have teas lined up for later as well. This tea is good as always. I brewed this up Western style, but this tea tastes a lot better brewed in a small gaiwan or small vessel. Delicious! This doesn’t have the powdered milk smell or taste to it, which is great! Lovely tea. :)
After dinner tea… mMmm… The first steep was fantastic. The second steep I added Ottawa Tea’s Canadian Ginseng Root. I had never seen actual ginseng before. It smelled really nutty! I can’t really describe it. I added 2 medium-large pieces. It is so good! It added a woody/nutty quality to the milk oolong. It is a nice, mild taste. Not quite like the ginseng oolong I had before (the other one tasted more green to me but maybe it was the oolong or the green outer shell it had). I digress… So this one was great! Mild but noticeable taste.
I might try adding this to everything now!
RAVE – Ottawa Tea’s HoppiTea package was awesome. She was super sweet and sent me a whole bunch of goodies! She even wrote me a really nice, informative letter! Thank you soooo much!!! :)
Preparation
I got this tea from my secret santa, seykayay who also gave me tons of tea goodies! I was really excited and decided to try this one first. A little goes a long way for this one. It smells so yummy! Delicious! The liquor is yellow.
I love milk oolong! This one is so good. Buttery, creamy, and smooth. :) I love this one.
