2nd steep…added a tsp of Youthberry. Is there anything that tea can’t do?

Last night I skipped home from work like Ralphie waiting for his Little Orphan Annie decoder ring in the mail. I slowly creeped open the mailbox to find a big white box with the Teas Etc logo on it. It was almost like Christmas Day opening my Red Rider BB gun. (Ok, not quite that cool).

This was my first order with Teas Etc and I am sure there will be more. Fast shipping and more importantly tip top tea (TTT).

I will be honest that I was a little frightened when I saw the amount of lavender that was in the blend. I was worried that the tea would come out tasting like perfume or something. Well there is a reason I don’t create tea blends, this thing is great! The liquor is an nice brown color with just the perfect level of lavender goodness. I will continue to enjoy this bad boy daily with no worries about shooting my eye out.

Went with the Citron Sonata and Youthberry blend this afternoon…but ICED. It was my first iced tea adventure and I wasn’t impressed. The ice watered down the tea and it didn’t have nearly the flavor that the hot version did. Very likely I need to steep longer when doing iced tea, but still I feel I would be loosing flavor.

Steeping longer will alter the flavor of the tea, often making it bitter and astringent. Instead, just use more tea to intensify the flavor without ruining it.

Blended with Youthberry & Wild Orange Blossom this morning, excellent morning tea when I am not drinking straight up Black Dragon Pearls.

With all the blending I have been doing lately I decided to go simple this morning. 5 pearls in 16oz of 195 degree water for 5 mins. I know I change my favorite everyday, but this one has it right now.

Starting a new blend with Youthberry…my final assessment….Youthberry works with anything. This however is my favorite blend so far!!! The liquor is a great light orange color and the taste? Amazing. I have always been a fan of Citron Sonata straight up, but it had a slightly tart after taste. The Youthberry smooths that right out!

Give this a shot.

This morning’s Golden Monkey blend is with Youthberry White and Wild Orange Blossom. Not bad…the White tea lightens up the Monkey. A lighter orange color than the Raspberry Riot blend, a very similar taste, a little more mild.

This one has been going toe to toe with Citron Sonata as my afternoon tea. So far Youthberry has been kicking Citron’s butt. I am sure the old standby will be back in the later rounds though.

Upon the recommendation of Teavana iPhone app, I made a nice blend of this with Raspberry Riot. The liquor has a dark orange hue and the taste is much different than I would have guessed.

Somehow there is a hint of orange in there, the kind of flavor you get from an orange tootsie roll pop. I recommend giving it a shot.
