drank Crème Brulée by DAVIDsTEA

In true “me” fashion, I’ve fallen behind in the DavidsTea advent calendar. Between the huge Della Terra Teas order that I just got in and the early Christmas present my girlfriend gave to me of World Tea House teas, it’s been a bit hard keeping up with the calendar. (I know, I know, first world tea drinker problems, amirite?)

ANYWAY, I liked this one okay. It smells amazing brewed (sadly, almost better than it tastes). Sweet, creamy, but not enough to really sway me to buy some. SIGH, fickle rooibos teas!

drank Coco Chai Rooibos by DAVIDsTEA

Lately I’ve been avoiding rooibos teas (mainly because I drank them so much I got sick of them) but this popped up in my DAVIDsTEA advent calendar so here we are.
I originally drank this with agave then had another cup of it without. I enjoyed both ways, probably with the agave a bit more because it really made the flavours pop. The first cip was full of coconut, which was really nice because I am a huge fan of it. The spicy chai balances out the sweetness quite nices and gives it a nice and full flavour. I’m used to having milk with my chai, but I didn’t find myself missing it with this tea in the sense that the tea carried itself well enough without it.
I actually enjoyed this quite a bit and if I didn’t already own so many teas of the rooibos variety, I’d add it to my stash.

Sipdown! (No I did not mean “Wild own!”. Damn you, autocorrect.)
One of my staples that had actually become neglected – probably from drinking it too often and then being distracted by all of my shiny, new purchases.
I love having this with a bit of agave. Tonight’s pot reminded me why I love this tea (I originally bought it because I am addicted to popcorn) but since moving on to other teas, I kind of wish this was mixed with a genmaicha. Crap, I wish I had thought to blend it with some and now I can’t since I’m on my second steep and all out of this :( Sigh, oh well!
Not sure how soon I’ll be reordering this since I have so many other teas to drink and also want to try some other DAVIDsTEAs.

(Note: I can’t drag the rating or prep scrolls on my iPod but I give it a 75 and steeped it for 4 mins for my first steep and 8 for my second.)

drank Buttered Rum (Organic) by DAVIDsTEA

This was one of the first DAVIDsTEAs that I tried when I first got into tea last winter. I seemed to overindulge in it though and couldn’t drink it again until now.

Had it with a dash of milk and some (probably too much, sigh) agave and wow, it’s delicious. I don’t remember it ever tasting this good and i’m wondering if it’s because I got a new batch of it. It’s most likely that I’ve just improved my steeping times and additives.

Anywho, the creaminess and vanilla with that bite of coconut has me glad that I gave it a try again!

drank Organic Cold 911 by DAVIDsTEA

I bought this two weeks ago when I was at the DAVIDsTEA on Bleecker St in NYC (woo! Vacation!). I bought it because I was starting to feel a tickle in my throat and I’m glad I did because a few days later it turned into a full blown cold. I drank only this for about a week straight and it was lifesaving. It was the only thing my stomach could handle (and it was a shame since I had also picked up about five other teas while I was there and barely had a chance to try them) and the eucalyptus was refreshing since well, I was barely able to breathe through my nose, yet alone smell anything. I also liked that it was so strong that I only had to steep it for a short time and got multiple steeps. This tea is definitely going to be a staple since I plan to keep it around for those times I’m feeling under the weather.

I tried a cup of this at my local coffee shop this afternoon. I had added soy milk and a pinch of sugar but wasn’t really impressed with it. It wasn’t bad but all I could pick out was peppermint. I added a tiny bit of agave when I got home and voila, candy cane! It was delicious and I’ll probably pick up a box of this the next time I’m out.

drank Harvest Apple Spice by Tea Forte

First tasting note! Wee! I liked this tea. It was sweet enough that I didn’t have to add sugar and it really packed a kick. The first steeping was just a little too tart for my taste but the second steeping was just right. I have a love/hate relationship with hibiscus but I found it worked well in this. Probably wouldn’t buy it again (I have wayyy too many rooibos teas already) but I enjoyed it!

Bio

I’m a queer lady in my late twenties who loves cats, comic books, travel, and photography. I fell in love with tea in late 2011. My “tea corner” is now threatening to overthrow the kitchen! I’m the worst at writing so I’m sorry about the babbling messes my reviews will most likely be.

DAVIDsTEA was my first introduction to loose leaf tea and I’ve remained pretty loyal to them (especially since they’re a Canadian company so their shipping price isn’t ridiculous and delivery is speedy!) I’ve recently ventured into teas by 52teas, Della Terra Teas and the Metropolitan Tea Company.

The first teas I really enjoyed were dessert ones (and I still overloaded them with sugar, blech!). I still like them but now I’m trying to get into less-sugary teas. I loooooove me a good genmaicha and have a weakness for most oolongs.
