There is such a luxury to spend an afternoon with a tea and tinker around in the kitchen.

So this is my first encounter with a milk oolong so take my review as not expert but a beginner I suppose.

My first steeping is at 3 minutes and I foolishly forgot to rinse the oolong first oh well.

Scent when brewed: Oolong orchid scent with delicious evaporated milk note very butter but underneath all of that is warm cereal with butter think cream of wheat. There is just a hint of sweet greenness though, think angelica. I am also reminded of creamed honey probably due to the floral note.
Taste: Delicate, texture is incredibly silky and full. Sweetness then butter and grain finish. The cooler the tea gets the more milk quality comes out. Just the tiniest hint of astringency.

Second steep (4 minutes)
Scent: The greenness of the oolong is far more present. The milk and butter note even more prominent the orchid quality really comes out.
Flavor: The green edge of the oolong really shows through. The hot cereal quality coming through even more, but less silky texture. A hint of astringency coming through.

Third Steeping (6 minutes)
Scent: Whoa the orchid is in full bloom. The milk is now definitely the supporting character.
Flavor: Oh, the sweetness has come out. The milk once again becoming more supportive. Really sweet long finish but not overpowering. The roasting of the oolong also really showing. No astringency. The creamy mouth feel returns.

Flavors: Butter, Cream, Creamy, Grain, Honey, Milk, Orchid, Wheat

One of my favorite tea beverages to buy! I love this on a hot summer day the balance of jasmine and lime utterly refreshing but with jasmine it has a unique thirst quenching bite that makes it feel unique compared to other tea based beverages sold on the market. The jasmine note makes this feel like a more grown up beverage.

This is bit of an odd bird for Peet’s tisanes, it does not brew an intense cup, in general Peet’s tisanes usually brew very flavorful. The flavor is still very light with a 10 minute steep and a tablespoon for a cup of water. The flavor is more akin to lemongrass very lightly supported by ginger with hints of mint. The mouth feel though is thicker than expected. No real tartness from the rose hips. Overall this much more gentler than I expected. Would not buy again on the other hand if you have an upset stomach this stuff is excellent for that.

Flavors: Ginger, Lemongrass, Spearmint

Perhaps the most orchid tea I have had yet! Some roast grains and spiciness in scent but mainly lovely orchid with a hint of creamy lemon. Incredible lingering finish.

Flavors: Creamy, Grain, Lemon, Orchid, Spices

This was my first Assam and for years I drank it in the morning with a splash of milk. In the winter the malty sweetness so utterly comforting on a cold morning. Was this tea smooth, did I drink it without milk, nope, but in all honesty this tea just says add a splash of milk and feel comforted. Serve it your rustic thick pottery mug and let it take you through a cold morning.

I happen to enjoy a lot of Peet’s unflavored teas, in fact because I worked there they were my jumping off point into tea appreciation, yet for the most part their flavored teas frequently left me wanting. Well, Peet’s hit it out of the park with this tea blend. The chocolate and vanilla working beautifully with the base black tea. The smooth cocoa notes of the cacao shells and dusting of cocoa work perfectly to enhance the cocoa notes of the tea Better yet the vanilla is used with the right hand, supporting the maltiness of the tea, and bringing forward the depth. For a truly absurdly decadent experience brew this tea dark add a splash of half n half and a splash of real maple syrup.
