I chose this tea, my favorite, to be the FIRST TEA I PREPARED AT WORK!!!! Yes! The days of takeout tea are behind me, and I couldn’t be more pleased!!!!! I still have a few things to work out (I only have one strainer which I have to carry home each night until I get another, I need to bring in a coaster, a small dish to rest the strainer, etc.) but the tea tastes great – and that is what’s important!!!!! No more overpriced cardboard for me!!! Wheeeeee!!!!!

Have you thought about getting an infuser mug, or your own paper filters? I buy paper filters from Adagio (100 for $3) and then just fill up bags and bring ’em into work everyday.

I have thought about the paper filters. I think it would make the most sense to place a little order somewhere that sells paper filters and tea :) Thanks for pointing that out! I’m going to do that!!! It would eliminate the need for the extra strainer, saucer and I’d have less stuff on my desk.

I have this ridiculous “tea for one” tea pot that I painted at Paint Your Own Pottery that I use – I love the silly thing too much to use an infuser cup!!!

Aw, understandable – that pot sounda adorable!

Adagio’s filters are really great. They’re super cheap and very durable, and impart no taste into the tea. Plus it’s fun to get up every morning and go through my loose leaf teas and pick which I will have today. I usually do 4 different teas a day at work, so it’s always a fun time filling up the little bags!

I just placed an order through Upton – I needed some more River Shannon and Mélange de Chamonix and they offer the paper bags (and also these adorable teapot shaped reusable clips for the bags that I couldn’t resist!). I decided to also bang out my other New Year Resolutions and ordered an Introduction to Oolong sampler pack, and a Green Tea sampler pack. :) They shop pretty fast, so I should be able to stop carrying around this strainer by the end of the week!!! Thanks for that brainstorm – it really helped me!

Err – that’s ship pretty fast – I’m the one who SHOPS pretty fast!

Surely! In my experience, they’re the easiest way to enjoy good tea at work.

And because of your reviews of them in the past, I’m sooo tempted to order River Shannon and Melange de Chamonix..

I love to cook, bake, read, paint, knit, do needlework, and garden. I need my coffee, but I LOVE my tea. I work at an Art School, and attend a large public university doing post-bac work (my BA is in English). I’m interested in the liminal spaces between art and craft, the academic and the practical, the individual and community, and the old and the new. I’m currently exploring these ideas through the disciplines of education, literature, history, and psychology.

I enjoy writing tasting notes, but have decided not to numerically rate teas as of 9/14/10. For an explanation, see my looooong tasting note about Mountain Malt from the Simple Leaf.

My favorites:
Chinese black teas
A good “milk and sugar” English style black
Earl Grey (classic, and in all variations!)
Vanilla teas (classic, and in all variations!)
Jasmine, Rose, Violet and other froofy, flowery teas!
An Occasional Oolong
Flavored Rooibos
Herbal Tisanes
