558 tasting notes

This was a free sample included in the Lupicia Monthly Magazine. Upon tearing open the tea sachet foil package, my nose was hit with a scent of ripe peaches and peach blossom. The floral notes were quite strong, but the fresh, ripe peach was still there. I wasn’t exactly sure how to steep this, but learned after looking at their website that it was a green based tea, so I decided to heat my water to 175F and steep for 1:30min.

The liquor is a light olive green, almost a matcha esque color, but more transparent than matcha. The aroma steeped is still peachy floral. The taste is similar to peach candy, almost reminds me of a peach bellini or Wallaby darned at Outback steakhouse. Sweet peach liquor with a touch of floral. The green tea base is buttery and a great pair with the peach flavors in this. I really enjoy this new tea!

I hate that they don’t have steeping info (well at least not in English) on their samples! I usually end up tearing out the part of the “magazine” (actually a newsletter/flier) that describes the sample and how to brew it, and folding it up and putting it with the package. That being said, I do enjoy getting their high-quality samples monthly and will probably place another order in time to re-up my subscription. This one sounds yummy!

Live in the cornfields of IL, but not too far from the city. Expecting a baby any day now (due Oct 24 2011). Sticking to mainly herbal and low caffeine teas for now. Trying to encourage my husbands tea drinking, but he adds so much sweetner he may as well just drink diet pop. I love trying new teas, and will try any tea once.
