296 Tasting Notes
Teanzo Advent Calendar Day 5:
As a calming herbal blend, this did the trick. I don’t really care for hibiscus and I feel like this would be a better tisane without it. I couldn’t detect the lemongrass much. Also, I think hibiscus and chamomile should steep at different temperatures and lengths. It’s almost as off-putting as a green and black blend…
For me, this tea landed on a day where I need the least amount of relaxation. Unlike most, my week starts on Fridays (Curse the restaurant industry!) and I definitely don’t need help sleeping, so I wouldn’t normally drink chamomile. It works a little bit too well on me!
For me, the tea was a passable pass.
Preparation
My guy got me this at World Market not too long ago. When I need something sweet, I tend to go for this powdered drink mix. It’s like drinking candy. I know what I am paying for here, and this is no Koicha. (or usucha for that matter.) As for the ginger aspect, it is quite strong. I love ginger in all of it’s forms, and I am not afraid of the intensity of this. The flavor tries it’s best to drown out all trace of ‘tea,’ but to no avail.
For more than 6 oz. of water though, I usually double up the packets. It gets watery too easily.
Flavors: Ginger, Sugar
This was the first tea that I have tried out of my November 2014 Select box. I loved watching these little balls ‘pop’ in my gaiwan! For some reason, I got fruity smells on the dry leaf. It was like a ripe peach and pineapple. My thought is that it was some kind of fluke. The actual liquor was a different story. My first infusion was structured and smoky, but not an overpowering smoke, almost like a light Hickory note. The second infusion was a little more bitter, too bitter for me. which was bizarre. I didn’t change the temperature at all and I the steep time wasn’t prolonged… weird.
If I hadn’t ruined the second infusion, I would have liked this tea much more. If I ever have a hankering for unique white teas, I will be ordering it from Steepster.
Flavors: Smoke

I am a sucker for Irish Breakfasts. This tea is no exception. Day 4 of Teanzo’s AC and I have not lost interest. This is one of their ‘new’ teas that they are unveiling through their holiday countdown calendar. it’s very good, with all the right notes, and no ‘dusty’ quality I have found in lesser breakfast teas. Classically bold a robust, it complements the cold weather I am experiencing today!
Flavors: Graham Cracker, Malt
Preparation
Talk about ‘Spirit Food!’ I had a lot of fun with this tea. When you sit down with no distractions and just drink a couple infusions, it is quite meditative. I am almost appalled at how BTT calls this a ‘daily drinker.’ This is almost too good! The leaves are a deep forest green with tinges of grass green. All throughout the steeping process I noticed a couple of developing flavors. First was a rich buttery smoothness that made each infusion up to the last velvety smooth. With each infusion, the butter seemed to melt. Also on the dry noise was the scent of heady flowers. That carried on into each steep. The last was a light vegetal note like fresh spinach. That kept me from being tossed overboard from the strong floral notes.
I really liked this tea, and I totally wished I had gotten more than just a sample size.

This is Day three of Teanzo’s Advent Calendar!
I really enjoyed drinking this tea. I love the combination of raspberry and lemons. Pink Lemonade anyone? I drank this hot, and I wished that I had tried it iced. I think the juicy aspect of the raspberry and the lemons would have played better. It had my mouth watering and was pretty satisfying. My favorite thus far!
Flavors: Lemon, Raspberry, Tart
Preparation
This is an expected combination Earl Grey. The Puerh adds a depth of smoky mushroom element to the body and tail notes. I was surprised to find that this combination really goes well together. There was not a point where the two strong flavors were fighting each other. Too bad this tea has been discontinued, even if I would not have bought this tea again, it was nice to know that offbeat blends like this existed.
Flavors: Bergamot, Mushrooms, Orange Zest
Day 2 of Teanzo 1856’s Tea Advent Calendar!
I don’t know if I ought to be adding new tasting notes to the advent calendar’s tea page, or adding a new tea to the Company’s actual page… eh, I think it may be to late.
This is a very basic classically flavored green tea. The jasmine is very delicate in the palate. It was a good, satisfying green tea, albeit a forgetful one. Now bring on day 3!
P.s. I forget I have a tea brewing app on my phone, but hey, I remembered to use it today!

My very first tea-themed advent calendar!
This is day one of Teanzo’s countdown to Christmas, and I think we are off to a good start. I don’t know what is so winter about adding vanilla and some corn flowers to earl grey, but this is a nice tea nonetheless. I couldn’t smell to much vanilla on the dry leaf, but when I made the infusion, I noticed the vanilla flavored began to unfold. This particular Earl Grey reminds me a lot of Red Leaf Tea’s puer earl grey, but with a tad more bergamot than I would like. All in all, this tea makes me excited for the days to come!
Flavors: Bergamot, Lemon, Vanilla
