3294 Tasting Notes

Sitting in a garden, surrounded by delicate spring flowers, eating a cream puff…or maybe a bowl of whipped cream…yup, that pretty much describes this tea :)
Sipdown
ps…after several steepings, you notice that your neighbor is mowing the grass…

Sipdown!
This tea & I had a rough relationship, initially, but today I’m thoroughly enjoying it.

I cooked a nice breakfast for my folks this morning, & mine included this tea, from the BBBB Grab bag, thanks to Tasty Brew.
This is a tasty cup of earth, tree, & cocoa :)

Day 4 of my visit with my folk!
Yesterday I started a crock pot of chai, & drank half of it, lightly sweetened with Maple. The rest of it went into the refrigerator, & this morning I tried my Chainog experiment in the blender:
the chai
an egg
a frozen banana
Blend.
Success!

all you need is a scoop of protein powder and you’re all set

apt

all set to have a weird protein shake at least

Terri HarpLady

apt, that’s what the egg was for :)

Another BBBB tea, this one from Sil.
It’s funny, I’m just not into taiwanese teas as much as I was. I know I’ve said it before, there is this one taste, that I can’t quite place. It reminds me of coriander a little, & a little sour….I dunno. Anyway, it is, of course, in this tea as well, & although it’s not bad, it’s also not really all that appealing to me.

I’m off to run errands with mom, & BTW, today is my Mom & Dad’s 62nd wedding Anniversary!

boychik

Happy Anniversary to your Mom and Dad!

TheTeaFairy

Day 3 in Florida, 1st sip down of the day. Thanks for including this in the BBBB, TastyBrew. It is, in my opinion, a manly tea: Leather, wood, a little musty. Not as sweet as some of the Yunnan’s Ive enjoyed, but still a decent tea to drink.

Cameron B.

I have a sample of this one that I haven’t tried yet. Manly tea! :P

boychik

Terri, what’s your parameters for this tea? Hope you enjoying the trip!

Terri HarpLady

Boychik, I’ve tried it a couple of different ways:
1 tsp X 3 was ok, but kind of weak, IMO
1TB gongfu…it just wasn’t that interesting that way
1 TB 1/2/5 not much better than the gongfu
1 TB X 3 good, but a little strong
I probably should have gone with 2 t X 3. I think that would have been the sweet spot.

boychik

I should try when I get home. It’s still unopened . Thanks for the advice!

Another tea from Sil, which I believe came from Cavocorax originally.
This is my sweetened tea of the day, & it really is nice. I’m tempted to mix in some almond milk & a frozen banana in the blender, for an eggnog type drink, & if I’d thought of that before I drank half the cup of tea, I probably would have done it ;)
Another sip down, leaving me at 374.

MzPriss

Terri I hope you’re having a wonderful time with your folks

Terri HarpLady

We’re just hanging out :) They watch a lot of TV: today show, jeopardy, wheel of fortune, etc.
A great opportunity to practice my knitting, cuz I want to get good enough to make my own toe sox & stuff. Mom & I ran a few errands today that ultimately included a few pints of Luna’s coconut milk ice cream… I ate the Berry one, saving the ginger cookie for tomorrow (it IS the bomb). Tomorrow I’m taking them out to dinner for their anniversary (62 years!)
We also have to measure I purchase a new blinds for their living room window, which I’ll hang before I go home. It’s nice & peaceful :)

Cameron B.

Coconut milk ice cream sounds amazing, even if I can have dairy. Ginger cookie, what? :D

MzPriss

Coconut milk with ginger cookie??? Yes, please! And they got a water filter!!!! Congratulations to them on that amazing milestone :)

SarsyPie

This tea sounds yum!

What are you knitting?

The tuocha of the day came from Dag, thanks!
It’s a pleasantly sweet one, with a nice whole wheat crust’ kind of taste.
Later steeps feature some cedar as well, & I should have more to say about this, but but sorry, that’s all I got.
Oh, & this is my 3rd sip down of the day, with an remaining balance of 375 teas.

This is one of the teas from the BBBB, submitted by Tasty Brew I believe.
I didn’t write anything the first time I drank it. I just didn’t really have anything to say.
Today I tried going with more tea & less time, & I did enjoy the first steeping, approx 1 minute, but the steeps afterwards just weren’t that exciting to me, although they weren’t bad.

This is still a really tasty Keemun, with notes of brown sugar, very light smoke, & a certain flavor in it reminds me of condensed canned milk. It’s nicely sweet, rich, & enjoyable.

Bio

I’m so excited to have found this community! I’m a self-employed Harpist (acoustic & electric – Originals, Classical, Rock, Jazz, etc) & Singer/Songwriter. My days & nights revolve around teaching at home, playing gigs, gardening,& fixing awesome food to eat. My schedule is different everyday, but I just go with the flow, & I sip a lot of tea!

My love of Tea began with Herbals back in the 70’s. One of my favorites was a licorice blend from House of Hezekiah, an old tea shop in Kansas City. There was also a tea with mint, rose petals, chamomile, etc called Nuclear Casual Tea.
In the 80’s I gave up caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, (& a few illicit substances…), and brewed medicinal blends & tinctures to support 4 pregnancies (all children born at home). In the 90’s my love affair with green teas began when I discovered ‘The Republic of Tea’. Their beautiful teas & packaging inspired my original song, “TeaMind”, from my CD “Zen Breakfast”. If you’d like to hear the song for free, drop by my website.

In general, I drink my teas straight, but occasionally I add a pinch of Stevia & maybe some coconut or almond milk (I’m allergic to dairy, gluten, & various other things & avoid most sweets.)

I’ve explored a variety of teas:
Whites tend to be a little bland…sorry
Oolongs – wonderfully sensual
Roobios – I’m not a fan in general
Puehr – a fairly new direction for me
I’m not a huge fan of flavored teas, but I do make exceptions, & I’ll try just about anything once.

And Black Tea, Oh how I love thee!!
I am on a quest for the most wonderful breakfast cup! I will find you, my Love!
