This is one that I’ve really looked forward to trying since I got my box from Zoomdweebies… and I couldn’t stand it any longer – I just had to try it (even though it is a little late for me to be drinking black teas, I usually stop by around 5 pm and start drinking green, whites and Oolongs instead).

The smell is YUM. It reminds me a bit of the watermelon bubble gum I used to buy when I was young for the sole purpose of annoying my step-mom (who hated the smell of it) – well, it was ALMOST the only reason I would buy it… I also quite enjoyed the gum. :)

The flavor is surprisingly good – I say surprisingly (although I shouldn’t be surprised as Frank knows his stuff) because I just don’t picture watermelon and black tea working well together … I’d have imagined watermelon to be a bit on the delicate side and would be overwhelmed by the strength of the black tea base. But it didn’t happen here.

I can taste the watermelon! I can taste the black tea. I guess my only complaint would be that the watermelon tastes a bit more like watermelon candy (or gum) than it does the watermelon fruit – it is sweet – candy-ish rather than sweet – fruity-ish. But, that’s not really a valid complaint because I love watermelon candy/gum.

Yummy. I think I will use what I have left of this and make iced tea for tomorrow!

I hope this one is in the box I ordered :) It sounds delish!

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

Would you mind sharing some of this one with me? I love to try some. Please!

LiberTEAS

Rachel: I’m really sorry… but I just finished brewing the last of this that I had for iced tea – I have sent off the rest of it to TeaEqualsBliss – but maybe she can share some with you? :( Sorry.

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

No problem, I will ask her. Hopefully she will have a little to spare. Thanks :-)

LiberTEAS

I hope so!

Southern Boy Teas

Working on some NEW watermelon blends (The Zoomdweebie’s blend DID use some artificial flavors, and it WAS good, but the 52teas blends are going to be AMAZING)

LiberTEAS

AWESOME. I can’t wait to try it. I think that it would be spectacular as a green tea blend. Another great green tea blend would be GRAPEFRUIT. :) (please)

TeaEqualsBliss

Can’t wait to try this!!!!

I’ve been wanting to try this and thanks to LiberTEAS I am sipping on it now! I am going to give this one many more tries but for my first attempt – here are my thoughts, my findings!

The scent before infuses is like a watermelon flavored ribbon candy…not as sweet as a watermelon flavored jelly ranger, however. YES! I do think there is a difference between the two! LOL – I think the Ribbon Candy has more of a Licorice type hint to it…not actually saying I can smell licorice but it isn’t as sweet or puckery as a Jolly Rancher. You know what I mean!?

Now…back to the Licorice…when I TASTE the tea there is a hint of what tastes LIKE licorice. This isn’t a puckery watermelon more of a watermelon spice or watermelon licorice type taste. Maybe that’s where I am getting with the Watermelon Ribbon Candy VS The Watermelon Jolly Rancher. Ok…confused!? LOL – like I said…this week is kicking me in the ass so here’s hoping this all makes sense to someone! LOL

I did infuse more loose leaf than I probably should have – that is why I said I am going to try this several times.

Cofftea

I wish I got more watermelon out of this, but SO glad I got no licorice.

TeaEqualsBliss

I think I was hoping for more puckery watermelon and less licorice or spice or whatever…yeah…I was looking for puckery…like Watermelon Pucker (alcoholic beverage) or Watermelon Jolly Rancher-esque…ya know!?

I wasn’t disappointed but maybe left a little wanting based on my specific craving at the moment…if that makes sense.

My ground hog order finally came the other day and based on all the cran-this and cran-that I was pleasantly surprised to find this! I’ve never had a watermelon tea before so quite honestly I’m not sure what to expect…

2.25g/6oz water just below boiling.

The raw leaf kinda smells like watermelon bubble gum… but not… there’s something else… strawberry? The liquor is a dark brown w/ reddish tones and the aroma is that of the raw leaf.

I was hoping that tasting it would clarify my confusion, but it doesn’t. It still tastes like a strawberrry or strawberry watermelon black tea… Hmmm…

Haha, can’t avoid the berries =P, the label must of gotten messed up.

Cofftea

I doubt it.

Watermelon tea? Want!

fcmonroe

Watermelon tea would be fabulous iced.

Retro Toast

Watermelon tea, now thats a first. Sounds like a decent summer tea. Although a novelty one.

Cofftea

fcmonroe, I agree- if it actually tastes like watermelon. This one doesn’t. I just realized Adagio’s “melon” tea is watermelon, not honeydew like I assumed, so I’ll try that one next.
