From Zhi Tea

Ingredients: Honeybush*, apple pieces*, coconut*, cinnamon*, cloves*, ginger*, and vanilla*
(*Organic)

Apple cider tea. A new twist on an old favorite. Created by one of our ambitious and talented employees here at Zhi, this honeybush based herbal tea has a nice, soothing mellow flavor profile. Chock full of premium apple bits and cinnamon, the aroma is at once familiar and comforting. A zero caffeine beverage for any time of day or year, but especially great during the fall and winter as the days are darker, the air is cooler, and you just want to sit with a calming, flavorful cup of a gorgeous herbal tea.

Made right here at Zhi; hand-blended by our team for you.

Backlog:

I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed this tea. It really tastes like apple cider! I’ve tried a few different teas that have tried to capture the flavor of apple cider, but Zhi Tea really nailed it with this honeybush tisane … although I doubted it would end up being so close to apple cider flavor before I brewed it because – there’s coconut flakes in there! What?

But it all melds together in a really delicious way. The coconut flavor was dominant in the first couple of sips, but then I found the coconut notes begin to taper off and sort of fuse into the cup and become part of the whole, creating a taste that is very interestingly apple cider-y.

The apple notes are sweet and the cloves and cinnamon accentuate and add warmth. The honeybush doesn’t add a really strong flavor of its own, more like an earthy background that brings the spices into focus. The vanilla gives the cup balance, and similar to the aforementioned coconut, it doesn’t really taste distinctly of vanilla, rather, it’s more like part of the whole fusion of flavors to create the apple cider illusion for the palate.

I really liked this.

Sipdown! (35 | 444)

I was excited for this one, as I really like apple cinnamon flavored things. I have a couple of apple cinnamon tisanes already, but I’ll never turn down trying a new one!

Anyway, this isn’t very apple-y. Which isn’t surprising because I didn’t see many apple pieces in the pouch. The spices are right for an apple cider feel – heavy on the cinnamon and clove and very warm overall. But it’s mostly just a spiced honeybush, with almost no apple at all.

A shame, but still fairly tasty and I’m glad to have tried it!

Might work to steep it in apple juice!

Ha ha that’s true, but at that point I might as well just steep spices in it! :P

I think the apple cider i’ve been drinking isn’t the apple cider you guys have been drinking haha. This one was apple-like…but i wouldn’t go so far as to call it cider. Mostly it was just weird. Maybe i’m the weirdo but this one wasn’t for me. Appreciate the share always VariaTEA!

First major snowfall in Toronto means first 3 hr drive home. So that sucked. However I came home to my customized SipsBy box complete with this tea which actually tastes like a hybrid between a chai and apple cider. It is quite nice. I also set up some cocoa chili pumpkin tea (another one of the teas in the SipsBy box) in chocolate milk to cold brew. Given there’s actual chilis in it, fingers crossed that doesn’t curdle. Now back to sipping on this…
