From Zen Tea

This Jasmine tea uses fine young buds from the Dai Ba or Big White Trees of Fuding, Fujian China. Pure fresh jasmine flowers are added to the tea and through seven levels of heat processing, the tea is infused with the delicate scent of the night-blooming jasmine flowers. This production process yields a fragrant and refreshing tea that offers a lingering floral note with a sweet after taste. When added to water, the pearls majestically unfurl, releasing their delicate scent and flavor. While not cheap, this tea is well worth the experience.

Origin: Fuding, Fujian province, China
Ingredients: One bud and one surrounding leaf, naturally scented with jasmine petals
Preparation: 1 teaspoon (3-5 rolls), 80-90 C (176-194F) water, 2.5 min

I’m starting to run out of my favorite Zen Tea blends. My pouches are almost a year old, so it is about time I got around to finishing them up, however I like to keep the around because I know I can’t replace them right now.

~8 pearls (1 tsp) in 500 mL hot water (~80 deg. C, not boiling) for 4 minutes

The loose leaf is very fresh and fragrant, and I’m happy to report the steeped brew is always equally fresh. Lots of jasmine, a natural sweetness from the tea. It steeps an amber brown colour, which is quite unlike my other jasmine greens and whites. There is a fruity note (pineapple, apple, apricot) and the jasmine is not bitter at all. This is a really nice jasmine tea that produces a smooth and flavourful cup.

I just received this with my small Zen order. I had to stock up on a few favorites. Tightly bundled green tea with lovely fresh jasmine scent. Very thirst quenching! A summer staple. There is also some sort of creamy smooth element to both steeps that I don’t usually find in green tea. The second steep was a little astringent. I don’t think I needed to use a teaspoon and half… one teaspoon or one and a quarter would be plenty for this tightly bundled tea. A great green tea with strong jasmine. I’m very happy with this one!
Steep #1 // 1 1/2 teaspoons for a full mug// 30 minutes after boiling // 3 minute steep
Steep #2 // 25 minutes after boiling // 3 minute steep
