From Zen Tea

From the Fujian province of China and named after the Chinese Goddess of Mercy (the “Iron Goddess”). This meditative, lightly oxidized tea fills your palate with fruit-like flavour and honey fragrance. The taste is complex and layered: the background flavour is florid suggesting a combination of vanilla, violet and orchid flavour. Considered one of China’s best oolongs. Good for multiple infusions.

Price: $19 / 100g

Being sick is really doing weird things to my taste buds. The more you steep is the earthier it becomes. I’ve cleansed my palate with the first brew. Hoping for more floral notes on the second brew. A bit of floral notes along with some grassy notes. Going in for a third round. Hmmm nothing much in the first couple of minutes. Third infusion was very bland. …. I feel that I need another cup of this tea. You know maybe its because I’m sick but I really can’t quite get the floral notes from this that I was hoping for. I’ll have to come back to this later after I’m better.

okay so maybe I oversteeped this one a bit, but it tastes like a cross between drinking floral perfume and a really dark oolong. This is not for me, but I really rarely like floral teas, so don’t necessarily take my word for it; if flowers are your jam then maybe give it a shot.

Sigh, updating my cupboard and realized that I don’t have this anymore but never wrote a note about it. But I do remember that I used it all for cold brews. This note = not a good help.

MAKING ALL MY NOWHERE PLANS FOR NOBODY.

I received this sample from DeleriumFrogs. Thank you!

Zen Tea continues to impress me. Most of the teas from here I have really enjoyed and they are at such reasonable prices. This one goes on this list. I enjoyed this one last night while making dinner. The first few infusions were creamy, floral and slightly vegetal. All were very smooth with no bitterness. The next few infusions offered a tangy/fruity taste. This was a really nice TieGuanYin. I will order a bit of this on the next Zen Tea order. Thank you for sharing DeleriumFrogs

I haven’t had this one, but this is a nice style of oolong in general. Sounds great.

TeaTiff

If you like milk oolong you will like these. This was a mellow one. It was really nice.

I have one from a Chinese tea company (Bama Tea) that I really like.
