2002 Nan Jian Te Zhi Tuo Ripe 100g
This is a very smooth ripe tea that has mellowed a lot with age. The soup is a red-wine color. The earthy ‘dui wei’ has mostly been replaces with the musty yet slightly sweet characteristics of aged shu. Thia is a high quality aged tea that is affordable enough for everyday drinking.

In early 2020 this tea is lovely. Earthy, but with a mineral kick, it is quite mellow, and pleasant. No off odors or flavors, it just tastes good, and has a pleasant feel to it. The epitome of an “everyday” tea in the good sense that it is pleasant, enjoyable, easy, and does not require much of you other than enjoyment. Wish I had more.

1758 tasting notes

This is a tasty ripe puerh with a little bit of fermentation flavor left, not too much. Noticeable in the first two or three steeps and that’s about it. There were also some notes early on of wet storage and spice. These were not real strong. It evolved into a nice ripe puerh with a sweet taste. Didn’t really notice the notes of chocolate that everyone seems to look for in a ripe. I think those notes are associated with the fermentation taste for the most part. Overall this was an excellent ripe puerh that I would in theory buy again. I probably actually won’t buy it again because I have way too much ripe as it is but in theory it is good enough.

I steeped this 12 times in a 150ml gaiwan with 12.4g leaf and boiling water. I gave it a 10 second rinse and a 10 minute rest. I steeped it for 5 sec, 5 sec, 7 sec, 10 sec, 15 sec, 20 sec, 25 sec, 30 sec, 45 sec, 1 min, 1.5 min, and 2 min.

Sampled this tea with about 5 grams out of my 6 ounce giawan.
Rinsed/paused/10/30/50/60

First sip was mellow to start but worked up to deep/bold mouthfeel.
Super smooth to go down with no astringent properties. I noticed very little sweet taste to this tea.
Was a complex sample with plenty of qi to keep me going.
Didn’t provide the most robust lingering flavor but lingered for quite a bit.

Very interesting. This had some earthiness at the start, but I’m on steeps 4-5-6 and that’s gone. It’s has a smidge of sweetness on the finish, but just a touch. This one reminds me more of a coffee. It’s pretty bold. There are some other flavors that I can’t quite pick out, perhaps because I’m exhausted.

It’s good, fo sho!

I have this tea. I liked it but it was not an incredible tea. It was good though. I bought it before I was on steepster.
