From Whittard of Chelsea

Whether picked fresh from the field, served with a sprinkle of sugar and a spoonful of cream, or made into jam and spread on scones, the sweet, fragrant taste of ripe strawberries is emblematic of British summer. To capture the carefree feeling of summer days we have combined black tea with pieces of ripe fruit and the flavour of strawberries. This blend is delightful served hot or chilled, whatever the season.

Another sampler from the Secret Santa variety sent to me by Alana – thank you! This one has a great fresh strawberry smell to the dry leaf, which also features small bits of dried strawberries. It steeps up dark fairly quickly, so I stopped it at three minutes this first time around. The smell is clearly strawberry without being artificial or cloying – very promising!

Taste is excellent – the fruit flavor is clearly there, not at all fake, and blends nicely with the strong black tea base adding just enough astringency. With half/half and sugar, the astringency is evened out and the strawberry is turned creamier. This is a very nice fruit flavored tea – delivers just as expected.

Being a huge Beatles fan, how could I not think of this song when sipping a strawberry-flavored English tea?

Oh yes, I remember this one! At the time I decided it was my Perfect Strawberry tea. I don’t think it would be anymore though. :)

One of the few teas that I will drink in bags, rather than loose- this tea has one of the nicest strawberry flavors I’ve tasted. The flavor is not at all fake, just sweet summer strawberry.

I got this one in a trade once with someone who had tried the Lemon tea from Whittard of Chelsea and found they didn’t like it and therefore assumed they wouldn’t like this either. Their loss, my gain. The very first time I smelled the dry leaves I knew without a doubt that I had found my ideal strawberry tea. It smells very sweet of strawberry, but not overly synthetic. You can see lots of bits of strawberries and strawberry leaves in the tea. The finished brew smells nicely of strawberries too, but not overwhelming the smell of the tea. The flavour is the same. It tastes primarily like tea, but with a sweet and fruity addition to it.
