7 grams, gongfu in 125 ml gaiwan.

A tea, prepared as a mood booster and it didn’t work. I feel miserable after this week. It was quite a crazy week with many emails exchanged back and forth; dealing with incompetent people all around the world; totaly wrong documents (MSDS); and I made such a huge mistake today and I won’t be able to fix it before Wednesday, as I am going to two days training outside my workplace. And in the end of the month our fiscal year ends as well and that means that everything must be checked and made correct.

Anyway, this tea is pretty good. Actually, better than I have hoped! When I read Roswell’s note about elderflower note, I knew it is perfect for the starting spring. It is indeed like that and it has got a nice mouthfeel too. One steep was astringent somehow, but well maybe it was too much leaf and long steep, it was one of the firsts…

The second reviewer said it has got grapefruit notes and I can see them there too. It has got citrusy note, but without that bitter notes of grapefruit in first steeps.

And I am adding notes of florals, sweet notes of citrus fruits. Tangerine, orange for me in later steeps.

As a fellow bureaucrat, I feel your pain! Sorry it was a rough workweek!

It was. I hate when they told me it is not an urgency, but right after we exchanged an email that shipment is ready to pickup, they start to bombard me with emails (or worse, chats) that they want it almost very next day.

Made this one in Gong Fu and Grandpa Style. It’s mildy sweet with some vegetable and pomelo aroma. Clean and easy to drink. Not that enduring in Gong Fu and in later steeping with stronger astringency. In grandpa style this isnt a problem as it presents itself with a solid body with the added astringency. There it is nice and balanced. So I can recommend this budget friedly tea for Grandpa style drinking for a clean and pleasant cup of relatively (2016 Maocha pressed in 2022) young sheng. The given data on brewing are for grandpa style and after a short rinse.

Grandpa style… ish!

I’m keeping my steeping pretty relaxed since I didn’t really want to sit down for a full session so much as I just wanted a sheng to sip casually while catching up on some comics and shows. The dry leaf aroma of this pu’erh cake is pretty fresh and sweet and that sweetness is definitely carrying through to the taste as I sip. I’m finding the liquor to be quite thick and syrupy, while the taste is pretty floral with just a bit of a fruity finish and a greener undertone. It kind of makes me think of elderflower syrup, like one might use to make a sweet floral cocktail! I’m really into the taste and it definitely gets bonus points for having an incredibly smooth mouthfeel as well with hardly a hint of astringency! I guess in summary, the name of this pu’erh might be a chaotic mouthful but the taste is certainly not…
