The 2020 Loyal Soldier is blended from entirely small batch material from several batches. This blend has a noticeable huigan (returning sweetness in the mouth) with a cooling full body and a bright flavor profile. Refreshing shu Puer with a sticky presence that will age beautifully.

I enjoyed this one Friday afternoon with a super delicious five seed mooncake. This shou has such a thick and coating liquor with deep notes of molasses, raisins, oat cakes, camphor, medicinal herbs, and sticky rice! I love how heavy it feels in the mouth, and the lingering dark sweetness after each sip! I had to end my session because I had a dentist appointment, but I was on something like steep six and the liquor was still pitch black and oily, and the flavour robust. Still undecided if this is a shou I’d want to repurchase, but if there’s one thing I’m confident about it’s that this is an excellent tea to drink with food!
