From Vahdam Teas

Unlike orthodox grade of teas which are long leaf or broken, CTC (Crush, Tear, Curl) teas are granular in form and follow an entirely different process of manufacturing, even though they are all produced from the same tea plant.Depending on the climatic conditions, different estates specialize in manufacturing different grades of tea.

Assam is known to produce some premium CTC teas every year. Our Applause CTC black tea blend consists of expertly chosen teas which offer a refreshingly distinct taste and strength to enliven ones morning like none other. Even though it can be brewed plain and served without milk, CTC teas when prepared with milk follow a different preparation process. Unlike orthodox teas, CTC teas are boiled along with milk and water upto 100 degrees to ensure maximum release of flavor and strength.

The bright red liquor in the cup after preparation leaves a prominent aftertaste in the mouth. A must-have for tea lovers who like their cup of tea extremely strong.

I really love most Vahdam Teas, but this one doesn’t cut it for me. This tea is very strong and quick to overbrew. The tea is also extremely bitter and has almost no flavours to balance that out. You can faintly taste some of the usual Assam maltyness and sweetness, but you have to close your eyes in order to find it.

The fact that i didn’t even finish the cup is indication enough: This CTC gets no applause from me.
