This is not my favorite white peony. It tends to be on the lighter and more floral side, both colorwise and aroma / flavor-wise. What’s interesting is that today, I drank a cup brewed from some of the broken leaves that had fallen to the bottom of the bag. It was a little darker tasting, but I didn’t find it particularly enjoyable. An unremarkable tea. Upton has some fantastic shou mei, such as ZW23. I strongly prefer to drink that.

I’m a fan.

I understand that white tea is supposed to be a delicate tea but personally, I infuse mine with a little more than suggested and for a little longer than usual. I’d say maybe two teaspoons per 8 oz. and I brew it for 5 minutes, sometimes longer.

What I end up with is a strong, flavorful, deep yellow liquor that has become one of my favorites to drink at any time. Now, personally, I don’t think this tea is one that I would say is the go-to for getting a person into tea – it’s good but in its own way. Seems to have a bit of caffeine and a good amount of theanine. Really keeps me awake and focused but not jittery. And it’s organic which is always a plus in my mind. If this were a sencha, I’d say stick to the rules as far as time and amount are concerned but give it a go. Add a little more leaf and a little more time and you’ll have quite a good cup.

My personal favorite mix is a lot of this tea with mate and a little bit of honey. Gets my morning off to a good start!

I’ve heard people describe drinking white tea as being no different than drinking plain hot water. Normally I would explain that the white teas I’ve tried were more flavorful than green teas, but this tea is probably what they were talking about.

So boring. It’s sweet, kind of floral tasting, but it was still boring even after doubling up the amount of leaves per 8 ounce cup.

Good, delicate white tea that isn’t too expensive but still tastes pretty good!

I am not a big fan of this tea, its OK, but I cant help thinking about how much more I enjoy some other white teas I have had in the past. I find it to be a little bitter and it leaves a bit of a funky coating in my mouth.
