From two leaves and a bud

From two leaves and a bud:
Assam Tea is famous for its lush flavor and golden color. Rich brown leaves with golden tips yield a distinguished multi-layered “malty” flavor. We have chosen a traditional, orthodox full leaf tea. Full bodied, deep gold in color, Assam tea is the perfect breakfast tea. The oldest tea growing region of Assam in NE India has low, rolling hills creating a great environment for rich tea. Hot days combined with cool nights bring out the fullest flavor.

This tea has a pleasant aroma and a smooth taste, along with a nice malty undertone. However, I wouldn’t consider it a great breakfast tea. Honey is the predominant flavor that unfortunately masks everything else. It is a nice afternoon tea, but it’s not quite bold enough to wake me up in the morning. It is actually too smooth and soft, if that makes any sense.

I agree with the sweetness, a bit much for me. I drink it mid morning, very decent!

I’ve had this before but…This morning, just moments ago, as I was sipping this tea…I woke up. Woke up to it’s subtle flavor. This is a flavor that I discounted as being too much under my sense radar for an early morning brew. And yet today…WOW…that flavor, that sophisticated flavor wasn’t under MY radar. Rather, I was not aware enough to allow that flavor and bouquet to satisfy. Today…this is very, very good!

I have a sample box of sachets from this company and I decided that my first try would be the Organic Assam since that’s usually a fairly safe tea. I’m planning a resteep but this review is just for the first steep.

There’s nothing really special about this Assam. It’s good. Bold and fairly heavy flavour that I typically associate with Assam black teas. This would probably be a fairly good “It’s morning, I need tea” kind of tea but there’s nothing that really stands out. I enjoyed it and I’ll have to see if I need to edit this note for the second steep but otherwise it’s just decent.

ETA: Not worth resteeping. Much weaker and no new flavours.

The thing that really stands out to me with this tea is it has a very smooth mouthfeel, and the flavor/notes are quite balanced. Flavor is rich (but not obnoxious or anything) and reminds me of honey.
