From Traditional Medicinals

Dandelion root tea has shown “choleretic” effects, which means that it can stimulate the liver to increase bile flow. Once bile is released by the liver, its two main functions are to carry away waste and to break down fats during digestion. Dandelion’s beneficial effects on liver and biliary tract function have been proven in pharmacological studies. Dandelion root tea has a pleasant roasted taste, sweet and slightly bitter.

This was the first tea I tried from Traditional Medicinals, and I really enjoyed it. The taste was unusual, but not unpleasant.

The liquor kind of smells like no-bake chocolate oatmeal cookies but made with sour dark chocolate. They were accidentally baked and even burnt a little. The taste is surprisingly light and much less bitter than expected. I only notice a slight bitterness in the back of the mouth after I swallow. It’s also a little sweet-tart and a hint ashy. Very mineral and clean with a nice roasty flavor. I think I like it!

I absolutely love this tisane.
It scratches the itch for a second coffee around midmorning. No caffeine in this, and it’s far healthier, especially because I don’t add anything to it. It’s got a pleasantly burnt taste to it, like toast. Very satisfying.

Well, I didn’t know what to expect, but this tastes like cigarettes. The smell is bad, and the gross flavor is lingering in my mouth. I didn’t even bother trying to make this drinkable. I just poured it out. I hate wasting tea, but this was really not my thing at all. I feel kind of bad leaving a negative review since I’m sure most people drink this tea for whatever medical reason rather than taste, but I’d say avoid it.

I drink this every couple of days to help with bloating. It has a nice nutty flavor that’s pleasant enough. I wouldn’t be drinking this just for the taste, but it helps with bloating and the flavor is nice enough that it doesn’t feel like a chore to drink.

I brew two bags in 15 ounces of boiling water and let steps until it’s at room temperature and then I drink it.

Backlog. I got some of this recently and tried it for the first time last night. I was surprised at how good it was. The roasted and slightly bitter taste reminded me a lot of coffee but without the acid reflux I get from coffee. I had mine with soymilk and it was yummy. The only negative thing is that dandelion root is a diuretic; after drinking a big mug of this I was in the bathroom constantly! So if you’re feeling bloated this might be a good thing. Otherwise I will need to be careful with this stuff and stick to a smaller cup. Yowsa!

This is great for liver cleansing, which is part of why you’ll end up peeing so much ;) I like it cold-steeped with lemon in it or mixed with other berry-flavored herbals.

Well. This is a weird one. xD
Got a couple tea bags of this from The Cookie Lady. Didn’t seem like something I’d like, but I figured I might as well try it! I get surprised so often in the tea world, I figure that everything deserves a chance!
So when I opened the package of this, it didn’t really smell like tea. In fact, it smelled like BBQ chips. None of my teas have even been near foods, nor have I eaten anything BBQ flavored. So that was confusing, but also made me more excited. xD
The steeping on this was like 10-15 minutes long also, which was really weird. And I kept forgetting (thanks to vicodin) and having mini-heart attacks that I was wayyy oversteeping the tea. But apparently these kinds of things steep for a long time I guess?
As for flavor, it didn’t taste like BBQ chips, which kinda disappointed me, to be honest. It would have been soo weird if it had tasted like that, but almost good-haha! The actual drink tasted more like dirt and peanuts. xD
It’s not horrible. But not anything I’d drink again.
It was exciting to try it though. It’s been a good day for trying all sorts of different teas! Glad I could try this one, even though it wasn’t the best.
Thanks, The Cookie Lady! :D

hahahaha Okay so…to be honest, I thought this tea tasted exactly like dirt, too. But, my co-worker thought it was good. Then, I heard somewhere that it is better as a cold tea mixed with anything berry-flavored. I have this cherry rosehip tea that makes this pretty good. Dandelion root is good for cleansing your liver, so I drink it every now and then when I’ve eaten too much crap in a short period of time (i.e. a weekend trip to the county fair!). I think it’s the roasted part that makes it smell like BBQ. I’m glad you were brave enough to try it, at least!!

Ost

Hahah wow. Well glad I wasn’t the only one that thought it was weird. Your co-worker got some funky taste buds going on though!

Cwyn

Ditto on the cold brew, it is a root so the bag should be boiled for a few minutes, cooled and strained. I’d drink maybe 4 oz cold followed by tall glass of water or mix with carrot or beet juice to complete the cleanse. Can’t say I do much cleansing anymore though, with all the meds I take.

Mandy

I’ve used in a cleanse before too. Cold brewed with a splash of cranberry juice and lemon juice, I think it was like one bag to 16 oz or something

I’m quite fond of this tea. It has a rich earthy tone in my opinion. Opening the box and the first sip both remind me of running around in the front yard when I was little. I usually leave 1 or 2 teabags in about 18oz of boiled water and go about whatever else I’m doing…if I’m in a rush, 10 minutes later I drink it…but I have left it to steep for as long as 45 minutes without having it go bitter (and since I find most teas to be too bitter for me, it’s a nice thing to forget a cup and not suffer for it). I do tend to add a tbsp of local honey to enhance the flavor further.
