From The Tao of Tea

Jade Cloud, also known as ‘Wulu’, is grown at a high elevation of 1200 meters in the cloud and mist covered mountains of Zhejiang province. The cool mist is ideal for the tea plants to maintain a deep green color and develop a full rounded flavor. Made in early Spring, when the leaves are tender.

Flavor Profile: Sweet aroma similar to magnolia flowers and cucumber. Buttery, smooth, vegetal flavor.

Attempting to de-cupboard some things; this is another green tea whose subtleness is mostly lost on me. I tried cold brewing it last night and this morning I am getting some interesting cucumber and minty notes. Will probably finish the rest of it off in the cold brewed way. :)

I’ve never noticed cucumber in a green tea-I guess I’ve just never looked for it. Do you think the cucumber notes are enhanced by cold brewing the tea?

TeaBrat

I would say yes. Still it seems kinda boring…

This is really good. Liquid Silk! So smooth and imparts a soft mouthfeel. But unlike some greens where I would describe this soft, smooth sensation as buttery – it doesn’t have that buttery taste. Not a bad thing … at all … just different. I like the buttery, but I really like this too.

Slightly vegetative, but more like a fresh vegetable. It isn’t grassy, nor does it remind me of steamed vegetables, it reminds me more of a crisp salad type of vegetative taste. It has a floral note in the background too. Orchid?

I like this very much…

ETA: As I continue to sip, a buttery flavor develops. It is still not nearly as “buttery” tasting as a Sencha, but it definitely has that buttery, silky smooth texture.

CMT 雲 山 茶

Was it real Butter or Margarine?

Batrachoid

Ha, I’ll have to remember that quip. It is masking itself as a sencha, it seems.

Started to write a tasting note about this one, and have been unable to finish it — I’m having some kind of crazy reaction to something…of the ‘restless/irritable/full-body-tension/creepy-crawly limbs’ variety. It is intensely unpleasant! It cannot conceivably be the tea unless there’s something strange in it that I don’t know about, which seems unlikely. One should hope it wasn’t the tea, because it was rather good! I don’t ever seem to drink greens (discounting matcha), and this was a reminder that I probably should…it is everything the description mentions, and a very mellow, tasty cup. It reminded me of sencha, but less intense. That might seem to imply watery, but such wasn’t the case — it had a very pleasant fullness.

I suppose I ought to strike caffeine off of the list of things I can have today, all things considered. Sadness.

Uh oh! Hope that the reaction goes away very quickly!

I decided to dust off my tin of this after reading LiberTeas latest review. But alas I still find this teas flavor to faint for my taste buds. It does have a slight hint of butter but my palate is not sophisticated enough to drink this. Once again this tin will go into the back of my Tea Bus.

It’s alright for a green, but kind of … uninspired? It’s not a bad, tea, but I much prefer Tao of Tea’s sencha to their Jade Cloud.

This is a Chinese green that has some similarities in flavor to a mild sencha. I think it is the vegetal taste that makes me think of that. For me, this is a great Chinese green. Sweet, smooth, not salty at all. I’m now out of this tea but it’s on my short list to order again.

This is a very well rounded and savory Green Tea with a lot of subtle flavor if brewed correctly. It is very smooth almost silky and leaves a wonderful moist aftertaste lacking astringency. I don’t get as much of the “buttery” mouth feel as I have had in other similar Greens which is a little disappointing but the tea is still very satisfying nevertheless. I would purchase this again for sure.
