For all of the ingredients in the description of this tea, I was expecting a sweet, burnt, and roasty cup. I got a clean grassy green tea with a subtle sweetness at the back. The second steeping of the leaves was a little more sweet.

This seems to be one of the more popular Persimmon Tree teas and I can certainly see why. It has a great caramel flavor, just like sipping on a liquefied caramel candy. Delicious. Thank you TraceyC for the opportunity to try it out :)

Great Canadian Travelling Tea Box (pt.1)
I had this tea on Nov 30th and Jan 28th

Dry Leaf: Green tea leaves and rooibos leaves which give off a sweet scent. There are also flower petals with the leaves.
Steeped: The flavors are nice and subtle, with hints of caramel taste which is not overpowering. The water is a nice dark green color and a sort of sweet scent. The caramel is nice and velvety and soothing and lingers in the mouth.

Sipdown (196/198)!

I didn’t realize there was rooibos in this, but I guess that explains the ever so slight woodsy taste this one had. Anyway, overall this was a nice caramel green, which I something I don’t have in my stash in regular stock because I’m not really a green tea person. I could maybe be persuaded to keep this one though, in a smaller quantity like an ounce.

It was sweet though and, like I said, a little woody. The green tea was pretty masked; maybe that’s why I liked it so much. So yeah, really decent.

Water: 8oz

Leaves: Mixture of green tea & various ingredients

Steep: 1m,2m,3m

Aroma: Caramel

Color: light yellow

Taste: First I want to say i was very excited to receive this in the mail today! Along with it my other samples Persimmon Tree Tea. Upon opening the package the scent was amazing! It reminded me of the soft chewy caramel candy. That made me even more excited to brew it. The first steep I think I might have let my water cool too much although the aroma was there I didn’t get much flavor. Moving to the second steep this time I left my water a bit hotter than before adding an additional minute to the steep time. The result was the same as the first still lacking. On the last steep at three minutes. Overall I can say this was an okay tea good for if your looking for something light with amazing aroma.

*Thank you Persimmon Tree Tea for this sample

It is a rare green tea that I enjoy. But this is sweet, smooth, and light. I decided to sample this because I love caramel and this does not disappoint. I used 1 teaspoon and it’s perfect. My only complaint, and this is appearing to be the case with all of the sample sizes I am opening, the leaves are so tiny that they float their way into my mug. I have to sip around them until they finally sink to the bottom.

Wow. I don’t know how they managed it but the caramel in this tea is nearly spot on. I’ve tried a number of caramel teas trying to find one that approximated caramel enough for my taste, and this is it. Yum. The caramel is there, but it is not overly sweet. It’s absolutely lovely.

My first sip of this was delicious, which was a relief because the smell wasn’t very appetizing. The caramel flavor wasn’t too overwhelming and it enhanced the green tea nicely. However, less than halfway through the cup the flavor suddenly became bland. Did my taste buds just habituate to the subtle flavor? I’m not sure what caused the change, but it was disappointing given how good the first few sips were. I’ll have to have it again (perhaps making it stronger) to see if the same thing happens.

This tea is a winner. When hot, the caramel is subtle, smooth and sweet without being overpowering. Then, I got busy and forgot about my cup for a while (the horror!). When I found my forgotten cup and sipped it at room temp, I was pleasantly supplied to find that the caramel flavor intensified. It was much less subtle; but still not overpowering. Icing it down toned the caramel down quite a bit, but I still like it. Way to go Persimmon Tree!
