Back to normal work-life balance. Other than that, I have been sending tea swap packages out for a couple steepsters this week, so if anyone is interested doing a tea swap in the US or Canada, I am quite at my leisure. Mainly would like to share some of my black tea blends (dessert) and straight teas (black, oolong, green, white) though.

Preparation: Western
Tasting Notes:
This is a sweet fruity tea for sure. It reminds me a lot of those Easter sweet tarts candies that are shaped like chicks and bunnies. I think there is sort of a cotton candy aspect to it too, but I am glad it is not identical to the real thing. Personally, I don’t like actual cotton candy, it is way too sweet for me. I think this tea is sweet but I appreciate that the fruit is both juicy and a slight bit tart so it has balance. This is a really good dessert tea. I don’t think I could have more than one cup in a sitting though, it is candy.

C is for…Cotton Candy

This one is so popular and I’m always disappointed by it. I actually really like the DAVIDsTEA version of Cotton Candy because that feel more accurate to me. This is more fruity sugar water. Like someone took Berry sugar crystals and dumped them into my cup…with one waxy piece of fruit. It’s fine but I definitely prefer other Cotton Candy teas to this – probably for the best since Necessiteas is such a pain to get ahold of.

Thanks to amandastory516 for sharing this tea! Hot, it tasted like absolutely nothing. I probably should have overleafed it, based on the content of this tea. Cold, the flavor really comes out and tastes pretty good. It definitely captures the sweetness and artificial taste of cotton candy, but it does it in a pleasant way. They could have gone even harder with the flavoring, but I thought they did a good job.

2021 Sipdown #47
This sample came from AmandaStory and I really appreciate getting the chance to try this company.
Steeped this one so I’d have something to drink while making banana bread.
It really does taste like cotton candy and I much prefer this one to the DT Cotton Candy blend. I drank this hot but I bet it would have been even better cold.

Sipdown (1513)!

Finally finishing off this tea felt a little bittersweet to me. I have a sort of love hate relationship with it because it doesn’t fit perfectly into the “box” I’ve constructed in my head for what a cotton candy tea should be – it’s too fruity and distinctly raspberry tasting. However, it’s also very sweet and has that sort of spun sugar/airy element to the top of the sip… but a stronger and fuller body. It’s like shrodinger’s cotton candy blend, I suppose!? All that said, I like the taste pretty well even if the mental categorization of flavour side of things fucks with me a little.

The biggest frustration is just knowing that if I did want more it would be a bitch to reorder since NecessiTeas doesn’t restock consistently/predictably and her shipping to Canada is awful…

This is by far my favorite of all of the cotton candy teas I’ve tasted. It’s distinctly cotton candy, but not cloyingly sweet. The combination of dried fruits is delectable, and in conjunction with the flavoring makes quite a treat.
