I thought that this seemed like a fun tea to drink with my toddler and since this is caffeine free I jumped all over it during iHeartTeas’ selloff sale (thanks go to her for getting it to me so quickly!) My son took his first sip and his eyebrows went up, then a few seconds later the entire 8 oz cup was gone. This tea is officially toddler approved!

I was impressed when I opened the canister and it smelled like root beer with a hint of rooibos. I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I purchased this, especially since I don’t care for rooibos. I was shocked and amazed that I actually enjoyed this myself, the rooibos worked really well with the root beer flavoring.

I did decide that it seemed a little odd to drink warm so I didn’t bother, this one was immediately served over ice, which in my opinion was a very wise move. I think this could have easily made it on the ‘teas I don’t really care for’ list had I started with it warm.

The tea smells and tastes exactly like Root Beer. I brewed it and let it steep for a good 7 minutes because I was feeding the cats but as the aroma suffused the room I could swear I heard the chords of “Hoe Down” from Aaron Copland’s ballet “Rodeo” with Gene Autry in the other room singing "I’ve Got Spurs (that jingle jangle jingle). I know that root beer is not especially “western” but this brew transformed me into the “Fanciulla del West”.
The taste is thorough root beer and I drank it up with gratitude that I could feel so “rooting-tooting” replete without a ton of calories.

I drank it sraight up, neat. I am sure that it would be just dandy with sugar and some milk. Indeed, the milk might give one more of a “float” feel.

But it was so excellent I wasn’t stopping for the dairy.
I am a person who is enamoured of dessert teas and I have to order this. I had it as a sample along with the rest of my NecessiTeas order. Isn’t that how the dope peddlars operate? They give you a sample and you belong to them for life?

Now I have to rush to have a second infusion…it really is that good and it has made me feel a bit silly and screw-ball-y. It’s a NecessiTea indeed.

I have a rootbeer black as well. I love steeping a large batch in just enough boiling water to cover the leaves then filling up the liquid discrepancy w/ carbonated water and chilling.

This tea was really, really tasty, so I really, really hope it wasn’t what gave me such an awful stomachache last night….

Rabs

I too hope that this wasn’t the cause! Sorry that it sounds like you had a miserable night last night :( I hope that you’re feeling better today :)

Thank you again Rachel for this delightful sample. This one smelled exactly like root beer float! I love it! I also love that this is rooibos blend. I added some milk and sugar to it to see if it would enhance the flavor and it did! They brought out the creaminess and flavor. Delicious! I need to buy a large size of this tea and try this cold!

Yea! My NecessiTeas samples came today! Decided to try this one first. It smells wonderful and tastes great as is, but I will be sure to put some vanilla silk creamer in and see what that’s like before I rate this tea.

Gave this a try this morning and was pleasantly surprised. The rooibos and root beer flavors went well together, I added a little sugar and a splash of milk.

This is pretty tasty. My friend and I are trying a new tea each night and this was last night’s. Sadly I don’t really get the “float” part which I was hoping would come from the marshmallows, but overall it’s a pretty tasty root beer tea that will be nice to have on hand.

Sipped on this one last night because I just needed something reliably and predictably delicious. If you love root beer then this is the tea for you; it’s sweet and cream and just nails that flavour!

R is for…Root Beer Float

I decided to ice this one. I also set it up to cold brew, which I will have later.

I made this in my iced tea press and for some reason when I use the press for rooibos and honeybush blends, as opposed to fruit tisanes, the liquid comes up the sides of the press. Not sure why that is specifically with rooibos and honeybush, just a curious thing. Also, because of it, I am now wearing some of this iced tea since the liquid from the sides likes to spill out while I attempt to get the iced tea from the center.

I have been making this as a latte in the past and honestly this iced cup is the first time its really screamed root beer for me. It’s got a lot of those classic root beer sasparilla notes. Following that, I am getting a touch of pepper from the honeybush base tea. I could do without that but thankfully it is not the strongest note present. On the other hand, I wish there was more to the “float” element, since I am not getting much here.
