BaoZhong, also known as Pouchong, treads the line between green tea and oolong tea. It holds the distinction of being the lightest, least oxidized oolong in our collection at 10% fermentation. This tea is perfect for tea lovers that are looking to enjoy something similar to a fine, high elevation whole-leaf green tea with a rounder, less sharp palate. Following the traditional methods, our BaoZhong is prepared twisted, not rolled.
Steep using water between 85C and 87C. Using lower temperatures and maintaining as much heat as possible is key to bringing out the best in this leaf. Brew no longer than two minutes; the liquor should be a pale green-gold. The mouthfeel tingles, reminiscent to mintiness. Take care to notice the slight, almost whimsical notes of lupine, as your attention inevitably will be drawn to the warm, enveloping flavor of honeydew and cucumber. The finish is crisp and lingers only slightly.
