From Teeccino

The coolness of peppermint leaves fuse with deep roasted dandelion and chicory roots; the lush richness of cocoa powder creates a chocolatey finish

Take roasted cacao powder from which heavenly chocolate is created and add a spike of green peppermint leaves to make a cool contrast against dark coffee notes coming from chicory and dandelion roots. Voila! Now you have a brew that has the depth and heights along with everything in between to entrance you endlessly. Truly your taste buds will never tire of this flavor and you can equally enjoy it either hot or iced. Both are divine…well at least they’ll make you feel divine!

I taste a good amount of mint! It’s bright and tasty, and the base is pleasant too. The resteep was also nicely minty.

Day 17 of the Teeccino advent calendar. It was another early day, this time for work, so I was happy for a tasty coffee-like latte. This one is very seasonally appropriate! It’s like a chocolate version of the candy cane blend from earlier in the calendar. All chocolate and peppermint on that great classic Teeccino base. This was a perfect start to my day as an oat milk latte.

I’m finding that I am really enjoying the classic-base blends as my first cup of the morning. I forgot how badly I missed coffee and having the substitute is really nice. The only down side is that, because the flavors are so robust, they linger for a long time afterwards and that can make it a bit of a project to clear my palate for other teas.

When I pulled this as an advent tea today, I knew I had to do a cup to cup taste test vs the Chocolate Mint I just opened yesterday. The dandelion mocha version certainly tastes like coffee, and this actually balances better with the strong minty flavoring that Teeccino uses. The dandelion does provide a bit of a nutty hay note here as well. Nutty, coffee, minty, cocoa. I would happily sip down a bag of either this Dandelion Mocha Mint or the Chocolate Mint. I do think I prefer the latter now that I have the correct water to herbal tea ratio, it really is like a peppermint patty candy.

This was probably my favorite from the sampler box. I held on to this one for quite a while not wanting to finish it off. It was minty and mocha-like and delicious. The soymilk I added turned it into a creamy lazy latte. I would repurchase this one for sure!

Sipdown! (23 | 512)

Still working through my Teeccino dandelion root sampler. Haven’t been loving them so far, but this is the flavor I was most excited about.

It’s quite good actually. The mocha flavoring really helps to justify the slight bitterness from the dandelion/chicory, and overall it tastes a lot like coffee. But there’s a deep chocolaty note as well, obviously. And the mint is light and refreshing, and reminds me of mint chocolate chip ice cream. It’s still quite acidic of course, but so is coffee. Overall it does remind me of a peppermint mocha.

I might actually consider buying a box of this one… I bet it would be delicious with milk as well. :)

Pretty good! Perfect, barest hint of sweetness from the dates rounds it out a little and makes up for the fact that the roasted flavor of the dandelion root and chicory doesn’t pair perfectly with mint. Wouldn’t buy a full box of just this flavor, but definitely not unhappy about having it in the sampler pack.

Another sample from VariaTEA – didn’t get much tea in today for whatever reason but at least i got a couple of sipdowns in :)

I’m sort of off of “mint” these days. That being said, while i don’t love the aroma of this one – it’s far too minty, when you drink the tea it’s a lot less minty and much more dark chocolate with a bit of mint sort of taste. Thanks for the fun adventures in tea VariaTEA!

Sipdown (640)!

This was strange to me for a couple reasons. To start, it doesn’t taste bad at all. It is a really strong flavour though that distinctly tastes like three things. Thing one? Mint. Lots of it. Thing two? Very dark roast coffee. This is kind of where this tisane loses me; I don’t loathe coffee but I definitely don’t enjoy it and this is BOLD stuff. Thing three? Dark chocolate. This is where the tisane kind of wins me back; because I LOVE the pairing of a really, really strong mint and a dark, just slightly bitter chocolate taste. It felt like drinking the most decadent, indulgent cup of dark, roasty hot cocoa with a splash of peppermint schnapps. I could really get into that if it wasn’t for that weird coffee taste.

So close to loving this, but so far. I’m just going to call it delightfully ‘ok’. That sounds fitting. Anyway, thanks for sharing VariaTEA!

Teeccino is an herbal coffee alternative brand. They sell tea bag versions as well so that would be why it tastes like coffee.
