Sipdown (209/212)!

Thank you VariaTEA for the sample – I was right about this being a really easy sipdown. I had a little too much leaf for a smaller cup/mug, so I made it in my timolino instead and slowly stretched it out over the span of the evening.

It’s actually pretty good – and I really enjoy the banana flavours in it. I wont get it again because it’s not unique and I can find similar flavour elsewhere from a company I’d rather support, but I’d be lying if I said this one hadn’t surprised me with how good it was. The one thing I maybe regret with it is that I didn’t try it with milk. That probably would have been really good and really relaxing.

Ok – ANOTHER easy sipdown from VariaTEA. (70). I’m now exactly at the point where my current teas equals my expected incoming teas. :O

This tastes like fake banana – like the bananas in runts. Which, actually is pretty good. And once this cools the cocoa and walnut flavours show up.

Yeah, I could probably go for more of this. I like it more than Tealux’s Chocolate Monkey.

OMGsrsly

Banana runts are awesome. :)

Would you like me to send some more your way? People do not seem to be interested and though I don’t hate it, I always imagine it would be so great given the smell and so I end up choosing something else.

VariaTEA

*it won’t be so great

TeaLady441

If you’d like! Hopefully I’ll get tea in again soon so that I can return the favor!

VariaTEA

I will send it when I am back in Montreal

TeaLady441

Sounds good! Maybe by then I can offer something to trade!

Thank you so much VariaTEA for this amazing sample! Couldn’t have tasted it without you :)

This is an odd one! As the tea cools down I’m starting to get a little peep of the banana, but I’m mostly getting an odd chocolatey but not quite chocolatey flavour that I can’t really pinpoint. I’m getting more and more of a Jello banana pudding vibe as it cools down further. This is quite good, but I don’t think I’d personally seek it.

Finally a tea from my Teavana Order that I am not pouring down the drain! This one is not nearly as oily as the others and thank god for that. However, it is not the greatest cup I have ever had.

This smells a lot like artificial banana flavoring both dry and when brewed. The tea tastes of subtly of rooibos at the beginning and then ends with the artificial banana flavor. I am glad I didn’t immediately want to pour the cup down the drain but I don’t know how quickly I will be making another cup of this.

ETA: The flavors come out more as this tea cools. It might make a nice iced tea.

Thank you for this sample Mitch! I have been wanting to try it for a while, but didn’t want to buy 2oz without taste testing!

This tea has a strong artificial banana flavor to it and artificial banana flavor is one of my favorites. It has a pretty good mixture of banana and chocolate and tastes good on it’s own, but it tastes even better done up as a latte with some sugar. It really makes the mudslide taste complete. On the last few sips I noticed a nutty taste which was nice. I really like it, but it tastes very similar to The Republic of Tea’s Banana Chocolate rooibos. In my opinion it is just a little better than the RoT, but after finding out more about Teavana’s poor ethics I think I’m going to try avoiding that business in the future.

When opening an envelope of this tea, you are struck with a pleasant chocolate and banana fragrance. When brewed, both are somewhat faint flavors. They’re there, but the flavors just aren’t that strong, even at two teaspoons. I will try three teaspoons next time I steep a cup.

The ingredients listed on this page leave out quite a bit, so I’m going to list them here (copied right off the package) and also update the page info. We’ll see if the page info remains complete. I’ve noticed that the Teavana teas on this site only list the main natural ingredients and usually leave out fillers.

Ingredients: Rooibos (long cut), banana pieces (banana, sugar, vegetable oil), cocoa peel, walnuts, chocolate drops (sugar, cocoa mass, cocoa butter, clarified butter, low fat cocoa powder, emulsifier (soy), coconut rasps, flavoring (banana, chocolate, cream).

Is the flavoring natural or artificial? I thought that had to be listed on products sold in the US.

Scheherazade’s Super Sipdown (Long) Weekend #11

Really enjoyed both my cups of this one. The banana flavour is strong, if a little artificial, and pairs nicely with the chocolate. Add a splash of milk, and it becomes very creamy and dessert like, and the milk chocolate notes come more to the fore. I don’t get any coconut, but that’s a small complaint. Many thanks again to VariaTEA for this sample!

This tea has very similar flavors to Chocolate Bana’s foster, and David’s tea’s discontinued Banana Bread.
I guess my hopes were too high, this tea is BLAND and boring.
It’s red rooibos with dried bananas.
That’s it. That’s what it tastes like. There no depth, no sweetness, no complexity.
I mean, it’s drinkable….
