A good spicy chai. I do it up with water and Agave, but it’d be good with some kind of milk/cream too.

A nice Chai, kind of softened (but definitely not bland)- probably good as an introduction to stronger teas. It tasted good, but it doesn’t really stand out from other herbal Chai variations. The usual sensual, spicy, woody taste of cinnamon, ginger, and other spices blend well together. Definitely a good tea, it’s just not terribly unique.

I have tried plenty of tea, but I tend to swing toward herbal and chai teas. For the chai end of things, this is my go-to fellow. So many other chai teas are just too cinnamon-y or spicy, while this is perfectly mellow and tastes amazing coupled with milk and honey.

Sipdown no. 114 of the year 2014. And I’m so glad….

I considered saving this for a night when I found myself at the end of the day with nothing sipped down, and then I thought…. Nah. Time for it to go now.

It’s still too lotion-y to be redeemed by its spice bouquet, which is so unfortunate because the spices work together in a way that could be quite tasty.

Now I must apply myself to sipping down Sleep Tight, though after I finish this I think I might have something like Rooibos Lemon Chiffon or perhaps Peppermint. I don’t think I can do both of these in one night two nights running…

Courtney

Wow, great job sipping this one down. It’s never fun drinking away a tea that isn’t so enjoyable.

Thanks. Yeah, sometimes I feel like I should just toss the stuff I don’t like so much, but it’s rare that I really hate something so much I can’t stomach drinking it and hope springs eternal that something will change and it’ll grow on me. Sometimes that happens, but not so much. Usually I find myself marking down rather than up. It’s very satisfying when I get to toss out the pouch on something like this, though. ;-)

Courtney

Haha that must be satisfying. I am the worst for teas I don’t like. They always get sent away. :P

__Morgana__

Yeah, if I was into swapping, I’d definitely do that. But getting to the post office around here is a project as the lines are always long no matter when you go and I can barely keep up with everything else I have to do. (Plus now most of my tea is too old to swap in good faith anyway.)

keychange

LOL Courtney I’m like you. If I don’t like the tea, there’s no way in hell I’m finishing it. Away it goes!

Tried this in store. Recommended to me after I said I like sweet and spicy favors. This tasted really good. What I imagine when I think of chai. Had it sweetened with rock sugar.

Not impressed. I really don’t like the overpowering cinnamon flavor of this, and was really hoping for a more balanced traditional “chai” flavor. The cinnamon is the only flavor I taste long after drinking it, and while this is a great flavor, I can buy it much more cheaply from Good Earth’s traditional tea! I expect something more balanced and complex when I pay this much for it.

The dry leaves on this blend smell AMAZING. I love the way it smells so much that if it weren’t so pricey, I’d buy it in bulk and use it as potpourri! Between the cinnamon, coconut flakes and ginger, it smells like Christmas baking. Every time I open the bag, I just want to stick my head inside it and stay there!

Sadly, this doesn’t taste as great as it smells. If brewed as directed (1.5 tsp/8 oz for 5-6 min), it’s pretty weak in flavor. It tastes like tap water with a hint of cinnamon. I prefer my chai to be pretty bold in both aroma and flavor but this blend only provides that if I significantly increase the amount of leaves I use and steep it for a good while. I usually make up a pot and leave my leaves in there the whole time. My last cup always tastes better than my first, and it never gets bitter. The cinnamon spice flavor just intensifies which is what I like! I brew it with a little sugar, both with and without a splash of skim milk.

Interesting tea. To be honest, I don’t ever drink it alone, but I think it blends well with others. It has a nice spicy bite without being “hot” which is what I prefer. Has large chunks of cinnamon stick in the mix that are very hard, but a spice grinder is great if you want to break them down a bit more.

Smelled it in store and was enamoured by the strong cinnamon aroma. Made a cup at home and found it too sweet (and rather flat-tasting, odd really considering the smell) for my liking…and that’s coming from someone who likes her chai really spicy!

It’s nothing to write home about, but then again I prefer black tea-based blends and kinda bought it on a whim.

Very cinnamony. Reminds me a little of Stash Chai Spice in cinnamon level/intensity. Not a strong tea flavor, it’s mostly spicy. It’s good but not quiiiiite what I wanted from a chai, but I prefer black tea based chais and tried this on a whim.
