A very good Lapsang, not too heavy on the palate and good for eating with sweet or creamy foods. Requires slightly more attention to the steeping time than some blends, as it is liable to turn woody and bitter if left to steep for more than five minutes. Nonetheless, is still a cut above the more common commercial blends.

Bar none, this is the best Lapsang Souchong I have ever tasted. It’s so smooth on the palate, even after a long steep, but the scent…oh, the scent. It’s just gorgeous. It’s like sitting by a crackling fire in Autumn. The color is rich but not too dark. It steeps beautifully in about two minutes, and it gives a solid second cup (as good as other brands’ first cup).

I’d think twice before taking it to work, though. Invariably, someone thinks they smell smoke (so far, no alarms pulled), or it induces the need for an exodus to the local BBQ joint for lunch!

Very happy with this as a daily tea! Strong smoky smell and flavor (duh). A strong secondary flavor of blueberry. Smooth, but with a slightly chalky texture (I’ll put up with it). Moderately dry finish.

Stands up to multiple steeps, too.

I have continued to purchase this tea for over 5 years. It’s one of the best lapsang souchongs I have ever tasted. I’ve shared it with everyone from family and friends to office mates. It has a deep smoky, bacon aroma and a dark red liquor. The taste is a compliment to its aroma and has a slightly astringent mouth feel. Highly recommended.
