From Tealux

The striking combination of this blend is determined by large, firm, natural coconut chips, pineapple flakes and exotic mango and papaya bits. Freeze-dried, light yoghurt granules and yellow sunflower blossoms are further eye catchers. A special combination of exotic fruit flavors complements the fruit nuances perfectly.

Ingredients: currants, hibiscus blossoms, papaya cubes (papaya, sugar), elderberries, pineapple flakes, mango flakes, papaya flakes, coconut chips, flavoring (lactose), freeze-dried yoghurt granules (skimmed milk yoghurt (lactose), sugar, malt dextrin, modified starch: di-carbophosphate, acidifying agent: citric acid), wild strawberry leaves, sunflower blossoms, black currant, blueberries.

All these awesome ingredients in this blend and then oh why bother since there is hibiscus included too. The deep red cup is like a warning. Then the hibiscus flavor overpowers EVERYTHING. I can’t tell there is anything else in this cup at all. Maybe my infuser had mostly hibiscus in it, but I did notice at least one huge mango piece. So disappointing! But this might be the most disappointing from the twenty or so teas I tried from Tealux. I’ve got a couple left to write tasting notes for and then I’ll list which ones were my favorites of the bunch…

Kittenna

Ahh, I think I was excited about this one and then saw the hibiscus and promptly removed it from my list.

Starfevre

The name is so nice too…

tea-sipper

kittenna – Well, I may have steeped it too long. And I didn’t take the hibiscus out of the infuser as I sometimes do…

Starfevre – I was wondering while I was writing the tasting note if it is supposed to be desert or dessert! I’m not sure! ha

I don’t know, I made the mistake of reading the other comments on this herbal—something I usually don’t do until I finish my review post—and I’ve got a completely different thing going on in my cup. What I have here is mango, and papaya possibly, with a hint of yogurt-like tang. There may well be hibiscus here too, but a few shreds perhaps, nothing that screams hibiscus at me. It’s all quite delicious.

Bought 25 grams of this in my last rather large Tealux order of herbals. Wanted to see if I can find anything good. This one sounded awesome. Alas, hibiscus makes everything so tart and you need to load your cup with sugar to overcome that. Ugh. WHY??? Especially for those trying to cut down on their sugar, or eliminate it altogether, this tea is impossible to drink unless one really fancies tartness. I went with a truvia package to try to take the edge off but ended up throwing some honey in there. Either that or dump the glass.

Fjellrev

That’s too bad, because this does indeed sound like i would be a winer. Maybe it wouldn’t be as tart if you cold brewed it?

Nxtdoor

I used up all 25 grams for our 2 glasses of iced tea and I shall not be buying more! :) But next time I see hibiscus imma try cold steeping first.

Fjellrev

Haha oh well! Chances are it would have been still quite tart cold brewed, anyway. Maybe it’s just me, but I swear hibiscus doesn’t isn’t as tart when you avoid steeping it in hot water.

Sil

tealux doesn’t have many flavoured wins for me from what i recall…

Fjellrev

That’s good to know since I keep stalling on ordering from them.

Sil

straights they have are yums

Nxtdoor

I agree with Sil. Dragon Lychee Pearls is the only flavoured fave from Tealux. And believe me I’ve been trying. Cherry Goddess was not bad but far from being a staple.
